I tried to hope for the best. It didn't work.

Wow - that turned out to be a miracle in disguise! One of the records was switched to a flight departing JFK a day earlier - the day on which I've been waiting 12 weeks for 2 seats. The CO agent was able to call KE and get us a second seat on the same flight (because KE apparently was the one who screwed up our records)! So, my 14 weeks of calling have paid off! ^^ I certainly hope that this doesn't happen again...

After a frenzy of booked flights this week I've got just over 73K EQMs booked through July including one of the SEA-NRT B fares and another B fare trip to LIM. There may be a smattering more here and there but no huge chunks. After I requalify for plat I was thinking of just enjoying my platinum benefits and putting further EQMs towards million miler status (lifetime silver for a companion is looking pretty darn good right now).

Or should I start looking towards another carrier? Maybe even venture onto the dreaded DL in anticipation of the Skyteam split? I'm based out of BOS so AA and DL have the most flights out of the hub. I don't really see a point in requalifying for UA until it's more clear how the CO/UA relationship shapes up (i.e. will UA status get my E+ access where CO status will not).

Sounds good to me, at least. Putting more effort toward getting the MM status is what CO put the program in place for. The CO RDM's will at some point become usable on *A, so that balance opens up a lot more doors.

Glad that it worked out and I concur on the second statement.

We come back 17-NOV with about a 3.75 hour connection in IAH back to SEA. The S/O has to work the next morning, so I may just purchase a B-up for the S/O and I will take my chances on an EUA with an el-cheapo ticket from SEA-EWR

Is it safe to call CO and put in for an upgrade yet?

The fare is gone , so you can probably call , but
You should also be able to upgrade online .

That's one hell of a good twist. Nice job.

If you are going to try DL for future travel , I would try to get a match on them , that way when you start flying you will have some elite status.

CO doesn't know the answer to some of these right now. How close are you to MM? I also echo the status match if you are going to fly enough to re-qualify on another airline (and I would probably choose a SkyTeam airline or AA).

Hmm.. I could status match. It's once a lifetime though, right?

Sadly I've only got 211K EQMs and if I just requalify for plat this year I won't even hit 300K.

What's more beneficial though, bottom tier DL or AA?

That answers that question. I saw the commercial and said out loud to no one, "Who in their right mind would buy that?"

If you want the MM then keep going with CO ,
and yeah match is usually once in a lifetime , and I have no idea about AA's program .

Are any of the SPG properties in Manhattan any good? They all look pretty bad.

Ugh - I hate NYC hotels.

EDIT: Looks like W Times Square might be my best bet...
