I am thinking of expanding my hotel programs to SPG and there is an Element in Las Vegas that I was going to try out.

I'm staying at the element in las for 2 night next week. I will be more then happy to post some pictures and provide a trip report.

I have stayed at the element in Lexington, Mass before. I liked it, spacious, bright rooms. eco friendly components. full modified kitchen with pots and pans. the bed is great too. they have a healthy hot breakfast and a large inviting lobby.

I'd check it out for you in 2 weeks, but at 139/night its a tough sell. The Westin near the strip is also 139/night and several higher end hotels on the strip can be had for even less via PL.

In any case, I was very pleased with aloft and would love to try out an element property as well. One of the 3 locations that have opened so far is in Houston...

Well, it's in the Houston metro area. I wouldn't really call that "in Houston" as it's pretty d@mn far out there in suburbia. It's really only convenient to the former Compaq headquarters, but none of the city's major business centers.

ALCO pulled the gay upgrade flirt? Was there a Guerlain sweater involved?

I they were both a little flirty — bartend was like "try this wine" and poured a very generous "sample" (e.g., nearly full glass) and it went from there.

Fair enough - I hadn't looked at the map. It's still within reach if one had the desire to do a mattress run to check out the brand. :)

If you wouldn't mind that would be ^ ^

I may spend a night at the one here in town just to check it out.

The element in LAS is a little far from the Strip but I figure I am going to pay $180/night for a Marriott near the strip so I might as well save a few bucks and use them to rent a car. Could be a bad choice.

I am on the worst conf. call. Stupid people abound.

Also, tried to book Kansas City SPG Property for the night of June 20th - no availability anywhere -

I must say I was quite impressed with your ability to flirt for half a dozen free glasses of wine that night. Especially since I benefited from getting a couple of them too when he was handing them out. :D

IIRC, that night netted a free bottle of top-shelf Chilean Pinot Noir. :D

Good answer!

I was one of those kids. Fortunately my parents recognized early on I was fascinated by music and wanted to learn an instrument, so I started music lessons early on. I was encouraged/forced to play tee ball for one summer, and never again. It was a disaster, and they realized that the abuse from the coaches wasn't going to benefit me in any way.

Unfortunately there were a few other kids I knew in my small town who were in a similar situation when it came to sports — no natural talent, no desire to participate, and no real interest in them at all — and they were forced to participate in activities they hated for years by parents who couldn't recognize that their talents were in other areas. I'm all for letting kids explore different activities and determine where their interests and talents lay, and then encouraging development of those skills, rather than forcing them to participate in something they really don't like, and can never excel at.

I was an asthmatic child so sports was not for me. I hated when they picked teams, because I knew I would be picked toward the end. I did ballet because for whatever reason, that didn't bother my asthma so much. I did drama, which lead to debate and speech later on. I quit doing dance in college, but never gave up debating ;)

Haha! My school never had debate, but I was involved in other academic competitions.

Debate is AWESOME! I debated in High School and College. This might explain something, what I don't know.

Is two hours enough time at SFO on a Tuesday mid afternoon to clear immigration and customs and make it to a CO flight including possibly having to check in for the CO flight?

Too many variables there. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. In a perfect world yes; but I wouldn't schedule myself that close.
