I guess I could flirt with the barkeep again for free wine...

I'll make sure I have some extra $$$ just in case so no worries.

Dont forget Five Guys!

Which reminds me, there's now one in Boston. Just saw it a week or two ago in one of the strip malls on my way home. I'll have to make it a point to check it out.

I'm more than happy to fork over $20CAD to any taker, if they aren't taking plastic. I converted all my spare cash to $CAD before heading to Quebec, and pay-day isn't for another week. Also, I'm more than happy to provide dinner from any establishment that recognizes that Truth, Justice & the American way demand acceptance of plastic rectangles that earn points. The options in the immediate vicinity include, IIRC, Pizza, Tacos, and Thai.

So the IAH micro-dos have moved into the box? is that why the thread for them hasn't been active in a while?

That's me. Clumbsy as well as bad knees, bad ankles, and bad shoulders to add to the list.

There is this thing that's long forgotten about that's called being a kid and just playing and learning life lessons such as figuring out what to do to occupy your timee on your own.

No. I just forgot to bump that thread.

I think this is the first talk of them in a very long time.

ahhh. I was wondering about them, since we haven't had one in a while. But, I guess a bit of that has to do with the time of year and the few regulars who have moved recently.

Actually I agree with you regarding both golf and hockey. Very good points. BL JR will start formal golf lessons this summer. She's been playing since she was one (started off putting) but we want her to learn from someone who's not a lefty (her dad) since she's a righty.

Lefty copying a righty so it works for them = Phil Mickelson. That's how he started as a kid. Regardless of that, parents coaching their own kids usually turns out to be  unless it's a famous retired dad...Earl Woods is the notable exception to this rule. If John Elway were my school's football coach, I won't complain that his kid is the QB, assuming that Big John is a team coach and not just concerned with offense. And kids do need a real trained coach if it's possible to find/afford one. Mom and Dad showing the ropes only goes so far until a teaching pro can come in and help much more.

We had one in Mid-December. It was announced in the other thread. IIRC, we had decent turn-out, as well (8 or so).

Be thankful you're not working FDNY dispatch.

"Do you see a... uhh.... Duane Reed? Uhm... okay. Is there a Chase and a Starbucks? Uhmmm... I guess I just described every corner in Manhattan."

For what it's worth, I've been delayed up to 30 min. by incorrect dispatch information. Usually a problem in the summer when there's more people out in a State Park that's in our coverage area. It's always very frustrating for everyone involved.

CM I believe it's actually a :mad::mad::mad: at TG.

Today is like a "best of box" edition. I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Many times that leads to the parents trying to live their failures in sports through their kids and pushing the kids too hard and the kids just give up. Sadly I know people who were the parent that did that.

Why do guys boo the fatties in a wet t-shirt contest? Don't they realize this just makes the hotties waiting in line next to the stage who are probably self-conscious anyway less likely to offer up the goods? Just suck it up, clap for everybody, and create a warm, supportive enviroment.

I think it can get a kid interested (both the girls became interested in golf because their dad plays it) but no way should the parent coach it unless as outlined above. My dad completely turned me off of golf and I was actually quite good but his constant harping made me give up the game for years. Fortunately, golf is a game that if you have a fairly natural swing, you can give it up for years and take it back up and be okay. I have not golfed in 2 1/2 years because of my ankle and saw my ortho yesterday. My tendon has shifted behind my bone because of a Wii golf incident :o, and I am suppossed to go back into my frankenboot to heal for four weeks. I asked about real golf and he said I should be able to go back to it eventually with a brace but I do wonder how I will get my swing back without being paranoid about a bad pivot. Sorry, way OT there.

It's been a while since I've been to one of these; I didn't realize fatties were participating
