I'm taking the rest of the year off; though of course am checking emails. Happy Boxing day, Box! We're going (ACK!!!) shopping in a bit and I am NOT looking forward to it. Crowds at the movies yesterday were crazy, and we ended up in the front row of a movie we bought tix for early. Oh, well. I spoke with my aunt and uncle yesterday and they asked what we were doing for the next few days and I mentioned that BL JR and I were headed to LHR. They asked how long we were staying and I said a day. They asked why and I gently explained the MR theory. They asked me if I knew there was a recession on :D

No Food Coma for us. Brother in laws gf made Christmas dinner. The Turkey (which was cajun and too hot for anyone to eat) was underdone and she was furious when my sis in law told her it needed cooked more. She took all the sides she'd gotten from Honeybaked Ham out of the fridge and served them cold. That's right - cold stuffing, creamed spinach, scalloped potatoes, etc. It was all we could do not to burst out laughing. Fortunately, I had brought some nice nibbles that were edible so I didn't go hungry and between my sis in law and I, we had brough 6 bottles of champagne and another four wines so drinks were a plenty. The kids left hungry and we came back to the hotel and they had easy mac. Still, gives us good fodder for years to come. She did make a good shrimp marinated in Mt. Dew and it was served relatively warm. I want to go back to the Christmas buffet at the Hyatt rather than go through what we did yesterday (she was livid over the turkey and she and bil got into a shouting match in the kitchen while we were all sitting at the dining room table).

I'm not at work today. Still recovering from the Pre-holiday traveling mess! I go back to work in time to deal with the Post-holiday traveling mess.....lucky me.

Just came back from Costco, where there are no crowds and of course nothing is left on the shelves but I did need to pick up my "Happy Holiday" cards.

Sounds like quite the Christmas dinner, baglady... Thanks for the laugh! :)

Enjoy LHR!

She's not from the US, so I am giving her a break; maybe she thinks those were meant to be cold. I remember last year going much smoother, but this year she wanted to do the turkey from scratch and kept asking sis in law and I questions on it. We kept telling her that we've always catered and don't do turkey's from scratch :D The champagne just made it funnier but I also wanted to be polite because she did try. Most importantly, we were together as a family and that part was good.

Malls/Shopping

Looks like the crowds are down this year - big time. Talked to a friend of mine who said last year there was a line to get into the mall near his house at 5am. This year, with even bigger discounts, no line.

Good, then maybe I can handle it. I may have to have a glass of champagne before I go though just to help with the anxiety ;)

That's an interesting combination...though with the champagne and wine flowing, I don't think I'd care.:D

The closest I got to shopping was a massive grocery stock up. I'm hoping the on-line sales kick in so I can use the stack of gift cards I have.

My local mall (aka the streets here in Manhattan) are all pretty light on crowds. I hit Old Navy and there was barely a line for checkout, typical of a normal day, not a "60% off store wide (selected styles only)" sale day. Fortunately the thing I wanted were on the 60% racks.

The only shopping I did was at Costco this morning. This is the best time to go there since there is basically no crowds. Of course there isn't anything on the shelves either.

I am doing some online shopping at kennethcole.com and johnstonmurphy.com - 70% certainly gets my attention.

Anyone see any deals on a small pc to use in my home theatre system?

If anyone sees the Canon HF100 for way less than $499.99, please let me know. It's an HD camcorder, and the wife and I agreed that it would be perfect for us to record our child's life on it. Plus, with the new Macbook, I now have a good machine for video editing.

I left work a little early and walked up 5th ave to see if I could snag a deal or two. The streets are so crowded and people stop for no apparent reason only for me to run into them. I made it to Banana Republic where someone half my size pushed me out of the way to look for their size shirt and thats where I gave up and walked home.

I'm going to have a few beers then see if I have the patients to make it to Macy's a little later.

The crowds are not down around here because our foray over to the local mall ended immediately when we observed all of the cars (many very fancy) parked on the grass beyond the parking lots.

It appears to us that Bernie Madoff did not get all of the money in Palm Beach County. ;)
