The EZ-Pass thing has so anesthetized me to tolls that I hardly even realize that I am paying them and all they have become is an occasional notation on a credit card bill.
The other thing that has happened is that the tolls have silently and steadily been increased and the EZ-Pass has put this so below the radar of most regular users that this has hardly been noticed and there is no longer the uproar that was caused by toll hikes only about ten or so years ago.

On the other hand, it has enabled my state to raise tolls on its turnpike without rounding upwards.
If I didn't have to fill out expense reports I would never look at my EZ-Pass statement.
