haha. Oh, the joys of having an event in the deep-south.

ya'll  now, ya hear.

ETA: I was worried about an oil-drunk pelican dive-bombing the reception. I guess I should be more worried about the DJ performing a faith-healing ceremony somewhere around 9:15.

X-Mas & New Year's. 80,000mi. per ticket in C, with a cumulative total of $146 in taxes for both tickets. :-:^^^

VERY nice. Those were mostly BA Visa points, combined with some SPG transfer, right?

No Visa Points (didn't get teh card). It was my existing 40K BA balance, plus CC-esque trade of HHonors for SPG with belynch, plus some additional SPG points of my own. I was surprised taxes were so low.

This is nice stuff to hear since I get to spend 3 nights at the downtown Marriott in 2 days. I am very use to walking around downtown Phila at night but there are sections which are definitely  to say the least. I bring little money and a disposable credit card to say the least.

Still can't believe I passed that up. At the time being approved for a mortgage was a higher priority though....

ALCO, what carriers are you taking?

Just LAN. To get the 80,000mi. N. America-->S. America C award, you can only take one OneWorld Carrier.

Talking about hotel chains, I use to think that Starwood was about the worst for giving Gold elites any usable benefits such as a meal or lounge access but I think that Marriott may be overtaking them. Last week, I got absolutely nothing from the Courtyard in downtown Chicago, and when asked, two different desk agents confirmed this. Ok, it is a Courtyard, but they gave me absolutely nothing other than a card that said "elite member" (whoopie!)

Then I go to the JW in downtown Washington and of course the concierge lounge is closed from Fri-Sun. So you would think that they would at least give you breakfast. Nope! Got absolutely nothing from them either. They showed me the rules on the website that says that Marriott will feed you only on Mon-Fri if the lounge is closed for some reason. Weekends do not count so you are on your own. I will say that they did give me free in-room internet which is available for free in the lounge and on the ground level.

I get no say in what hotel I stay at, so I am middle tier at 3 different chains and top tier at one.
I think that although Hilton has degraded it's point value, it still gives the traveling paying elite customer the best overall value for being elite at all times of the week

Mooing off :D
