I've had them pull that crap before, but it always gets straightened out in the end. The vast majority of the agents genuinely want to help you get your desired itinerary; many times, however, they either don't know how to do such or their systems, or those of their *A partners, screw them over.

I had no trouble booking my last partner reward, however. And, after the original was booked, I had no trouble making changes. All the changes I made after the original was booked took less than five minutes, if that's any consolation to you.

After the  I experienced originally booking this (I think the second day after they went over to the :-: Alliance system) everything else is a cake walk. And I haven't heard any other agents open up my line, accidentally, and say "I have no idea what to do. Let's just keep him on hold until he hangs up."

I'm also astute enough to play the hang-up call back game if I get a bad mojo from the agent.

For those playing the at-home game, minute 38 on hold.

+1, I am really jealous about all the exotic trips. What was I thinking when I booked this for my summer vacation.

If it's cheap, she will consider it. To be a fly on the wall at her family gatherings...seven minutes in, every conversation devolves into prices of items and whether or not they can be deemed cheap.

It doesn't get much cheaper than central Asia.

On CO metal, sure. Since I gave in to budgetary and other  and we're going to Mehico para el honeymoon, I've already told her that I want to burn the miles and go to Europe on a Star reward in the next few years. She has no desire to go TPAC, quite correctly citing that Asia is a more advanced level of travel than she can handle. She fairly consistently has to remind me that she is not as well-traveled as I, and I counter with my admission that I'm wet behind the ears compared to most of Teh Box.

Asia's not that difficult at all if you stick to major tourist-oriented countries, like Japan, Singapore, Thailand (although I've never been there), Malaysia (somewhat), and Taiwan.

In weather nerd land: There is a really cool bit of cyclonic activity going over central Texas right now. The rain is looping up out of IAH, over CLL, and back down into AUS and SAT.
