That's interesting; it should be 145/ticket, unless the MLE-SIN Y segment somehow is throwing it off.

Are you staying in SIN for any period, or are you venturing out to nearby places?

I was a bit intimidated by going to Japan at first, what with the language and cultural barriers, but having been there it's not that bad. In the populated tourist areas you'll find some English signs and can get around fine enough.
I'd like to go back to Asia, preferable HK. I'd have to get a tour guide from rkkwan for that one. :-: I sometimes miss your broken English attempt at cursing. :) Being called Corey-san was funny too. |

I really do not get the appeal of Thailand.
The cities are, by and large, not all that clean or attractive; the beaches are, by and large, not all that spectacular; the natives' smiles are, by and large, merely a con act; many of the (younger) tourists are, by and large, trying to re-live their college spring break days; many of the (older male) tourists are, by and large, trying to re-live their college spring break days (but with women of a different ethnic group); the place is not, by and large, all that cheap; etc etc etc. |
! I just got ALCO'ed
"Mr belynch, we've cleaned everything up, you'll be receiving a credit back on your CC () for some changes in the taxes, and everything is now ticketed and confirmed with your itinerary. [pause] By the way, the supervisor that helped me with this is the same one that fixed it back in Nov. when you had all the difficulties. She wanted to me to tell you to stop making changes to this itinerary. It's wonderful. You'll have a trip of a lifetime and to enjoy it. And please, no more changes." |

Japanese people tend to run in terror from me. It used to happen semi-regularly when I lived in SAN and worked for a Japanese-owned company. The exec over my divison regularly got a, "deer in the headlights" look when I would walk down the hall and he would walk around the corner and see me. No one ever believed it until my boss was walking with me one day and saw it.

Right, but it can't be much cheaper, can it?
It's definitely closer than any of those, and has some incredible scenery, to boot (as long as you're not so sick from the altitude that you can't appreciate it). |

If you want fun, climb the 1,272 step* path up the side of a mountain in the "footprint of Buddha" at Wat Tham Sua in 98 degree heat with 95% humidity with only 12 oz. of water. I think I lost about 10 lbs doing that.
Do they have an elevator? :p

It might be after they fix the ticket... (53 min. on hold)
20 hours or so (technically it's just a stop-over as MLE is the destination). I have a friend who is a food critic in SIN and he's offered to take us around for the day, show us the sites and get us fat and drunk. SIN is a great food town. Given that it is a relatively small city-state whose primary function is to be a business hub for the region, there isn't a whole heck of a lot to do other than eat. There are a few interesting tourist things, like the Singapore Flyer, the night show at the zoo, bird park, etc., but I would recommend focusing on eating and drinking. |

:D this is not uncommon in Asia, they like to stare. Don't mind it it is not rude to them, they stare at their own abnormally tall or large as well, and it is actually a sign of respect. Tall and big means wealthy to them :D

Definitely cheaper than Thailand and S. Korea, which have been my only exposure to relatively cheap Asian destinations. I've heard that prices in Vietnam have risen considerably over the past decade, so it's likely cheaper than that, as well. I'd make a WAG that Bolivia's pricing is roughly equivalent to Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and the less touristy parts of Malaysia/Indonesia.

My mother did it years ago; can't remember if it was Chiang Mai or Rai. Said it was the most atrocious smell she'd ever experienced. The horrific smell alone is enough to make me want to subject my fiancee to it. She was playing Super Mario 3 with me last night and the horizontal scroll screen where you have to line up the pieces was making her dizzy. With a tolerance that low, I can see Thai elephant smell making her pass out and/or puke.
