I'll need a link to verify this. My wife was really put off by this behavior. Enough that she doesn't want to go back. :(

SIN is a great food town. Given that it is a relatively small city-state whose primary function is to be a business hub for the region, there isn't a whole heck of a lot to do other than eat. There are a few interesting tourist things, like the Singapore Flyer, the night show at the zoo, bird park, etc., but I would recommend focusing on eating and drinking.

Now have a Lufty PNR (was listed as A1?? mmm... steaksauce). Tickets were not issued correctly yesterday as I feared and they're going in and manually fixing things.

I'm so glad I called. If I had waited until this afternoon the 24 hr. mark would have been hit and the time-bomb of the LH auto-sweeps would have imploded the entire itinerary.

Thankfully the agent said her supervisor she's working with saw what was going on, realized the error, and then said "great. I love a good challenge like this" and seemed excited to fix it.

Glad you got someone excited to fix it. I'd still call back in around 22 hours to make sure it is fixed. Without that buffer you'll be pushing the limits of round two of solutions should that be necessary.

I'm not going to disagree with anything you say. If you stick to the cities and / or tourist spots and want to relive your spring break days with sweatty Germans wearing black socks and sandals, then that's what you get.

But if you choose to stay out of the soys in BKK and HKT and immerse yourself in the local culture and seek out the unique experiences then you get away from the "land of smiles and stabs in the back" and interact with the truly lovely local people. We were warmly welcomed at the Buddhist temple and met a great person in KRB who took us sea cave kayaking then to his home for a Chang beer.

As far as expense goes, we stayed at the Hilton HKT -- one of the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in -- for $40/night. We ate excellent full meals (three courses + drinks) for $5 USD. We experienced wonderful things.

Spending 4 days in a beach bungalow here was pure bliss. Even if the monkeys ran out of the jungle and were constantly pooping in the pool.

My hobby is people watching, I had a nice place behind a window at the Holiday Inn and was able to watch unseen, a few very tall mongolians came in and got the same stare treatment from locals :D

I'm not touching that segment with a 10' pole.

That's the plan. Assuming we can stay awake, I'm thinking the time we have there is enough if we do it right.

I found Laos and Cambodia to be surprisingly expensive, even on a backpacker-type budget.

Everytime I have made a change on my reward lately my waitlisted segment drops from the reservation.

I'd add clean and safe, although a bit authoritarian. Not a place for high spirited carryings-on.

Also a good place for warship spotting, for those into that. The carriers and subs of both the US 5th and 7th routinely stop in Singapore, as Malacca is part of their beat.

And now for something completely different...

Amazing. Just selected my seats on lufty.com including exit rows on the upper deck of the 744 segments. :-::-:

*Thai style steps. Not your average 18" guys, these are carved into the side of the mountain and are not gentle.

She would kill me pretty much on the spot and leave my body to be roasted by the locals.

Umm, *WHERE* north of Bastrop? That's right about where casa RonJon is located.

Cripes, that Phi Phi Island place that DunkinInsider linked was ~ $150 for a bungalow (using random dates).:eek::eek::cool:

That might be worth some festerin'. :-:
