It's so worth it.
When you consider that the value of these tickets, retail, is over $20k/person and I'm going to drink my weight in champagne and bathe myself in caviar. |

! Great success
Now have a Lufty PNR (was listed as A1?? mmm... steaksauce). Tickets were not issued correctly yesterday as I feared and they're going in and manually fixing things. I'm so glad I called. If I had waited until this afternoon the 24 hr. mark would have been hit and the time-bomb of the LH auto-sweeps would have imploded the entire itinerary. Thankfully the agent said her supervisor she's working with saw what was going on, realized the error, and then said "great. I love a good challenge like this" and seemed excited to fix it. |

On the other hand, when I eventually do that RTW reward trip, I'm sure I will find much  to deal with.

Think the NY Daily News overstated or understated?

A "traditional" award itinerary is easy; the more complicated, "to-the-extent-of-the-rules" ones are a challenge.

quite correctly citing that Asia is a more advanced level of travel than she can handle.
Canuck's first trip overseas was to Thailand and she handled it with minimal issues (despite making the rookie mistake of buying a Thai phrase book prior to departure). She jumped in with both feet and had a wonderful time. I can't recommend Thailand enough (unless it's during the annual coup attempt). Very easy to get around, English is a good neutral language, and everything is dirt cheap. And it's beautiful. |

Yup.
Interesting development. When I put my LH PNR into us.com it populates with the US segment (sexy, it's on an E190) as well as the LH segments showing in erste. So, at least I've got that going for me. I've been on hold for a while now. Dollars to Donuts they come back and say "this is not a valid itinerary. We're going to cancel it." They've played that game with me every time they don't understand what they are doing. It's fun, you can literally pinpoint the moment my BP shoots up from 120/80 to 500/300 and steam shoots out of my ears like a tea kettle. I had no trouble booking my last partner reward, however. And, after the original was booked, I had no trouble making changes. All the changes I made after the original was booked took less than five minutes, if that's any consolation to you. |

There's a picture, somewhere, of a baby elephant's trunk going up the Canuck's shorts. |
Coincidence? Speak of Thailand and another solicitiation email from the company that does Thailand/Vietnam fam trips.
