Yes, but I take public transit as I do not own a car nor would I be willing to pay the outrageous tolls/parking fees if I did own a car. When I do the Saturday same day runs I usually rent a car at LGA and return on Sunday night at EWR. This way we can run around and buy more crap for the house on Sundays. |
Can anyone recommend some good, moderately priced Italian or steak restaurants in San Diego or La Jolla?

Define moderate. There are several fine options to choose from in both La Jolla and in Downtown.

One of my friends is dating a girl that works for Emirates. Any contraband you guys recommend I should try to snag when I see her at IAH this Saturday? Does Emirates have PJ's?

Exactly. If you go for lunch, the Palm is moderate.
That said, there is only one real option for Italian in San Diego, and that is Filippi's Pizza Grotto. They have several locations around the region but the best is in Little Italy, just north of downtown and close to the airport. The company is actually owned by a mafia-affiliated family reportedly, so there ya go. For steaks, Donovan's in La Jolla/UTC is one of the better places but it is by no means moderately priced. I would choose something like Croce's in the Gaslamp where the steaks are good, as is everything else they have, plus Jim Croce's son plays jazz in the attached bar on the weekends. The restaurant is still operated and managed by Jim's wife, Ingrid. It's not cheap, but it's not horribly expensive either. And the food is fantastic. ^ |

We are looking for a nice place to have dinner one night and looking to spend about $50-75 a person.

The local Costcos have gift cards to the Cohn restaurant group which owns a bunch of the local restaurants. The restaurants aren't bad, but they aren't quite as amazing as people make it sound. Now, if you wanted good Thai food... |
