Took BART this past Friday. Painless 45 mins and only $8.10.

It is exactly 30 minutes once the train leaves SFO and arrives at Powell St.

Foamer. :p

I don't think so. Those people frighten me more than the people at A.nut forums.

I was very unimpressed with ATL when I was there earlier this year. I know never to check a bag to IAH again after the 90 minute wait when I went to DO III. Had to wait for two other planes' bags to come out before my flight made it out.

There's a huge difference between the speed of bags coming off at terminal C for domestic flights, and at terminal E for international. Bags come off at E lightning-quick. Bags at A & B generally come out in a reasonable amount of time, as well. I don't know what the deal is with C, but wait times there can be ridiculo.

A lot more bags.

Of course NZ would release a fare sale to Noumea that doesn't earn CO or BD miles. Sigh.

At those mid-levels, there aren't tons of perks, so I'm content with continuing to build Holland America status (slowly, ever slowly). I got lucky with Princess. They confused me with my father (who had lots of Princess cruise days under his belt), and I got the same status as him.

I wanted to view said giant octopus and their site is screwy:

Last month we checked bags that came out in A in no more than 20-30 minutes. I also never had any trouble with international arriving baggage. I was wondering what the complaints were about and figured that they must have been about C.

Princess Plat isn't bad as far as cruise perks go. They told Plats recently that they can haz free Intertoobz. The top tier only offers one minibar refill, so your having that status might not be of tremendous benefit to you anyway.

My hotel booking in Asia for part of trip as a room with free minibar access/use and daily refills :D

I think all the construction around there is tying things up. Baggage wait times are significantly longer (by 15 minutes in many cases) than they used to be before the economic meltdown (when there were more passengers, and more passengers engaged in fee-free bag checking).

My only IAH baggage experience is with A :D thankfully.

Just got my latest edition of Travel & Leisure, wherein best and worst US Airports are ranked.

Best:

  1. JFK - New Terminal 5, updated runway construction, T+L Store ()
  2. IAD - Underground AeroTrain is open, cutting time between terminals.
  3. ATL - 70 new retailers in various terminals, rotating art collections.
  4. SFO - Large concourses, aviation museum, BART service, lots of brand name stores

Worst:
  1. MIA - Under construction since 2004, only 73% of flights are on time, crappy signage, long walks between security and gates
  2. LAX - The 405, old terminals, no seating
  3. EWR - Worst delays at 66% of flights on time, overcrowded
  4. IAH - Long walk between customs and immigration, takes up to an hour to pick up bags

My thoughts:  Apparently this person hasn't used Terminals C or D at IAD, or tried to get to JFK at rush hour, or been delayed past 9PM at ATL, or tried to afford anything at Gucci SFO.

I agree that MIA and LAX are generally holes, though the international terminal at LAX isn't so bad. EWR is delayed, everyone knows this. But bag delays are not something that is commonly associated with IAH, and the walk from customs down to get your bag is shorter than the hop from C to E.

Have you tried to get to JFK during rush hour? :-::rolleyes::D:p

Anyway I mostly think these type of surveys are about transiting, but I wonder how the readers of T&L take it.
