Usually just the plumbing. The pipes get heated up during the day and it takes a while for the cold water to cool them down by the time it gets to your faucet.

Regardless of where I've lived in Teh Pit, the water always comes out lukewarm during the summer months. One of the signs of fall is when the first cool front makes the water from my cold water tap cool again. :D

Aye, I remember it happening later in the summer when the ground has really had a chance to warm up down six or seven feet where the water pipes are. Unless your water comes from a water tower wherein it will be rather warm all the time.

Prior residence was water tower water, present residence is city mains, I'm guessing. I noticed the changeover from cool to tepid/lukewarm in May.
Also, do you want to confirm dinner after the festival on Saturday or play it by ear? I can make reservations. |

I honestly don't know what we're running off of, other than it's provided by Lake Travis.

Our water supply comes primarily from Lake Houston, that lovely, shallow, turd-brown body of water that one often flies over on approach to IAH. I would imagine it heats up relatively quickly in comparison to the deeper Lake Travis.

Why do they even bother with a cold water valve on faucets in Houston? The "cold" seems to only be a few degrees cooler than the hot. Or, is it just the plumbing in our building?

sbm12, you'll have to give a mini-trip report. I'd like to know if El capitan was able to get you the final score of the game.

I'm fairly certain that the GABF is still on, but reports were last night that creditors for the Austin Music Hall and the outdoor venue in Bee Cave were suing O'Connor for non-payment of services. Seems he's written a couple of checks that have bounced and is on the books for about $250K all-in.

There's still a marked difference between summer/winter water temperatures, even if you let the water run long enough to cool the house's plumbing. |

IIRC, my water comes from about 200' under the surface of Lake Michigan, about 3 miles off-shore, and it's all underground from there to my house. Water temperature at that depth is supposedly around 36-38F year-round.

I'm not sure where Edinburgh got its water from, but it was ice-cold, year-round.
