I had an interesting meeting with my manager today. Either today or tomorrow, we will be signing a huge contract with a U.S. based brokerage house. They will be rolling out one of our wealth management products to all their advisors in all their branches in the U.S. My manager has asked me if I would like to be the project manager for this roll out. On the one hand, I haven't really done a project like this in a long time, so it would good to get back into this type of thing, plus great exposure for me throughout the company. On the other hand it entails managing people (including their travel) , which I swore I would never do again. Also, it would curtail my international travel for at least 18 months, with the exception of my quarterly trips here to London. I've gotten really used to essentially doing my own thing, setting my own schedule and being responsible for no one but myself.
It was not presented to me as something that I have to do, or even that not accepting would be a bad move, but still...it's probably not a good idea to turn down additional responsibilities, especially in this climate. Thanks for listening. Thoughts and comments are appreciated. :) |

I hear you. I had to buy one for my company laptop (though it was only $20 since the laptops they're giving us were made in 2003. :-:). My client laptop is pretty snazzy though, replete with docking station and carrying bag that will fit both my laptops in it for travel. ^

That is kinda sketchy. I'm pretty sure laptop docks are default for us at work. I'll know on Monday when I trade in my 3-year old laptop for a new model.

I'm wishing for some decent Europe/N. Africa fares that will be valid through Q2. No luck, yet.
I want to do a couple of long hauls to ramp up my CO mileage so that I can hit 100K this year. I have about $700 "credit" :p I can use around a client visit to ORD in April. I am trying to figure out whether I can get a flight to HNL out of it, preferably on CO to try for an upgrade from LAX to HNL. |

The staff of Hyatt proper seem to truly love the organization and opportunities.

Yup. My first job was with Hyatt and it has set a standard that no subsequent employer has come close to matching in terms of creating a great work environment.

I'm hoping my personal standards get blown away by the new place. It's not hard to top the psychological pain that Atlantic City causes, and the management team at the teaching company and at the parking place leave much to be desired.
