Correct. The computers that run it are the same as those which run CO's.

Ummm...bad idea. Walking along the highway in the middle of the night in Mexico City just isn't smart.

oh it is a highway, I haven't looked at terminal map, they don't have ANY linkage together?

I was thinking US style airports......

CBP: Huh? Only two days? For a vacation?
Me: I'm a bit crazy. Sorry.

Not that looking for a terminal map would do any good, can't find one for both terminals!

It is not a highway like we think of highways and it does have sidewalks but it is a long walk and is not a good area of town.

P.S. - the Hilton has a complimentary shuttle from T2 to T1.

I have been to Mexico, but not to Mexico City. not been to the airport, so all new to me.

I doubt we'd have much issue, but agree safety is best, if they don't have an interior corridor I guess we just taxi there, or hope the train is still running.

It really peeves me when they say "Your call is important to us...please continue to hold". If my call is so important, why don't you hire more people to answer it??? Just cut the c--p and let me know how long I'll be on hold.

Yeah they are on opposite sides of the runway from each other.

Yeah, and that was the Marriott Plat customer service line. Strange, though, that if I call the reservations line someone picks right up.

Hi Brit, I have your Cadburys. :)

There are supposedly free taxis that replace the monorail for the overnight period in MEX. I didn't deal with them but it should be possible. I'm not sure who told me about that or where to find them but I know I had that conversation with someone recently.

Day room? Thbbbbbtttttt! :p

I rented a car and drove out to the Amador Causeway. Had lunch at a Colombian restaurant overlooking the water. Then went back to the airport. Bit expensive for one person since I was on the hook for the total cost of the rental car (~$40 for a tiny Nissan with a manual transmission) but still not terrible. There are many, many taxis available and they are pretty cheap but other than that nothing "public" out there that I would bother dealing with. There are buses but I never figured them out.

Driving is OK there. The roads are decent enough though not particularly well marked. If someone in the group has a GPS with the Panama maps that would be very helpful.

If you've never seen it before I HIGHLY recommend visiting the Miraflores Locks at the Panama Canal. It should be a 45-60 minute drive from the airport mostly on highways. The Canal is quiet mid-day so you can do Amador Causeway or Casco Viejo first and have lunch. Then drive up to the Locks and see that. And then drive back to the airport. It will be a full day but you should be able to get it all in. I'm expecting that we'll do something similar on the trip at the end of March though I know we haven't finalized those plans yet.

I did not - I tried a Canadian Maple donut instead at the recommendation of the eight cops (three ahead, five behind) me in line.

I thought that was the plan for that trip.
I've got one 3/5-6 so not sure I wanted to do the whole rental car thing
was thinking umbrella drinks by a pool somewhere
