This is usually a cable problem. Try adjusting the VGA cable, especially if it's in a bind somewhere. Alternatively, switch to DVI. It will make your eyes want to explode somewhat less. :)

Interesting conversation w/son this morning -- he seems to be getting educated in advanced 'chemistry' in the 'counseling' sessions he was assigned to - yep, tax dollars at work!:rolleyes: |

I'd switch to DVI in a heartbeat if I had a DVI out on my laptop.

Docking stations/port replicators are not company approved/supplied equipment. If I want to buy one out of my own pocket I suppose I could. that though. It's kinda pathetic how equipment is allocated/provisioned for us considering it's more or less a software development organization.

Three thoughts:
If you don't want to do it, don't do it. If your heart isn't in it, then it will not be a fun project for you. A job done poorly is worse than a job not done at all.

To my mind, this is the key issue. If you hate managing people, and don't necessarily want to be a manager, and prefer to do your own thing, would this outweigh the potential long-term benefit from the visibility this project would provide?
On the other hand, given my career choices, I wouldn't suggest taking career advice from me.

Agree on all counts.
but, also consider the bigger picture. What is it that you want to do longer term? Will this assignment act as a stepping stone or will it pigeon-hole you? Will you gain valuable experience from the new role that will help you in you future roles? Later, Box. |
