YVR has almost everything of significance fenced off - I got some decent photos of the flame but it was by standing on barricades and such.

Times have really changed. In 1984, everything was accessable. I ran on training track with Jackie Joyner Kersee and Carl Lewis.

The photo I'm looking at is taken from some outdoor walkway one level above the flame but next to it. I can see the baracades and people off in the distance.

Ok I found out, photo taken from the viewing platform.

Since we are talking about old Olympics (or, I am), I recall a great moment at the 1988 Olympic trials in Indaniapolis. Florence Griffeth Joyner ran the 200 meter final and set the world record by 2 seconds -- crowd was eerily silent. Then, from the other side of the stadium, someone made the sound of a horse... Best sports moment ever....

If it's the walkway I'm thinking about, one needs a security badge to enter through a building.

It was the building to the left of the flame if you are looking towards North Vancouver from the baracades. No security to get there.

You can see the buidling in This Photo and the people standing on the outdoor walkway.

Wow, things really came apart here once curling ended. It appears that curling may be the root of all evil in the world. :eek::-:

I may need to go to bed soon. Rain just started in So Cal. Mountains will slide into canyons soon... :(

A train strike in Italia, pilot strike in Germania, delayed flights and cancelled flights are trying to prevent me from going home. So far I am winning though, as I have made it to FRA.
