At least I've had minimal drama (poo tub excluded) with them.

Same here. HH rates are within our travel policy guidelines and their props are everywhere that I need to be. On track to be Diamond again in stays, nights and points . Their site to me has always been the real .bomb.

icurhere2, going for points or FFNs this time?

We are now accepting reservations through October 30, 2010. Grab your bags, it's on!

I love Hyatt in general and the Costco influence definitely sweetened the pot...

I too like them a lot and was Diamond for three or four years a while ago. However, they do not have a location close to our project in Northern VA and we simply got tired of driving in from the HR Reston, a place that we really like.

How tempting it is to take them up on that challenge and do Hyatt again for a few years. I'm still thinking about it.

I am pretty much assured at this point that I will need to let my SPG PLT go this year. The Hyatt promos are pulling any chance of leisure travel away from SPG for me.

What am I missing at Hyatt? I have a Gold card of theirs sitting at the house but I've never been impressed by their properties.

Outside of PH, Hyatt properties don't do much for me either.

Their property mix fits pretty well with my/our travel habits. Adding the Diamond benefits (particularly the confirmed suite upgrades) and the promotions that Gold Passport has given over the past 12-18 months has made it pretty desirable to devote most of my stays there.

Already declared FFNs were in my future - with my current point balance, I can undertake many 5,000 point / night stays but far fewer 18,000 point / night stays ...

The last time I stayed at a Hyatt was in 2008!! With the CO PPMC you get Platinum status wth hyatt, but I never really bothered with it.

It wasn't until icurhere2 and Trustguy started waxing lyrical about Hyatt that I thought about it. Seems like their redemption rates for decent hotels overseas are pretty good.

I'm trying to rack up hotel points for my RTW trip, and so think I will focus on Hyatt and SPG this year. I have quite a few points with Marriott and Hilton, simply because my clients seem to book me into those properties and I have no say in teh matter. But, now, if I do have a say for leisure or biz travel, it will be Hyatts or SPG's whereever possible.

As a former employee of a Hyatt property I can tell you that their level of personal service is significantly higher than the other major brands. They empower their employees, provide regular training, and provide great benefits to keep them happy and motivated.

They also really take care of their VIP's. Every morning we'd get a briefing on who the VIP's were in-house, who they were traveling with, why they were at our property, what their preferences were, and any "quirks" they might have. Nothing impressed people more than greeting them by name, offering them their beverage of choice, and asking if there was anything more that could be done to make their stay more enjoyable.

I can spot an ex-Hyatt employee with about 95% accuracy.

My only issue with Hyatt are their lack of properties outside city centers (and places I frequent) and not nearly as strong of a portfolio of world-class resorts as SPG.

but you need to use FFNs within a give time period, yes? And so that wouldn't be of any use to me currently. I shall go for the points!

icurhere2/trustguy - what can I expect as a Diamond when I check in?
