LAX to DPS Issues

When searching for flights from LAX to DPS on Expedia, the cheapest flights came up on CO. So, I went to CO.com for a quick search. A departure date of July 1 and return July 17 yielded this error message:

Denpasar Bali, Indonesia (DPS) is not currently served by Continental or its partners. Service ends on Sun., Jul. 1, 2007 and begins again on Thu., Jul. 5, 2007. Please modify your search criteria.

I then moved the date to depart Jun 30 and then got this reply:

Denpasar Bali, Indonesia (DPS) is not currently served by Continental or its partners. Service ends on Thu., Jun. 28, 2007 and begins again on Sun., Jul. 1, 2007. Please modify your search criteria.

Then search the timetable using tomorrow as a departure date (as an effort to see if CO actually flies to DPS) and got this:

Denpasar Bali, Indonesia (DPS) is not currently served by Continental or its partners. Service ends on Sun., Jun. 3, 2007 and begins again on Thu., Jun. 7, 2007. Please modify your search criteria.

Is there any easy way on CO.com to find a simple list of airports served?

I find this happens after a small period of inactivity. I wondered if it was a cookie issue where the traveller number cookie expires and must be reset.

I have really been noticing some strange appearances on the reward booking engine in the last few days ...

The most obvious was when running an intl search, the second flight of each choice wouldn't show anything but the dates and times -- no flight #, no city, nothing.

And today, a CO agent told me about a new issue:

I had a reserveration on hold for an intl flight but no matter what I did, I couldn't view the reservation online.

She explained that agents put some type of character called an "arnk" which they nicknamed "AR-RUNK" to indicate I was flying an open jaw itinerary. As soon as she removed the arnk, I was able to IMMEDIATELY view it online.

Viewing an itinerary thats already started

Found this oddity viewing a reservation, I doubt it can be easily improved though.

I am currently in the middle of CLE-MSP, MSP-IAH-AUS, AUS-IAH-CLE, I am in MSP until the morning. I started the trip Monday morning.

This afternoon I OLCI for MSP-IAH-AUS. This evening I viewed the reservation on co.com and it properly displays it.

However below the CLE-MSP flight it displays "Check Flight Status". Clicking it tells me the flight arrived yesterday morning 16 minutes early.

My complaint though is why is there no "Check Flight Status" button below my pending flight for MSP-IAH-AUS? Wouldn't this make more sense since the www functionality is obviously there to check flight status?

Reward Travel - Back button bug

Was using miles to book the IAH-DO and of course I ran into a CO.COM bug.

Was logged into my account and started the flight search (Reservations(from top toolbar) --> Make Flight Reservations). Went through and selected my reward travel dates. The final screen before purchase is "Review Ticket Details", at the bottom are three buttons (Continue, Reserve, and Back).

Selecting the Back button simply reloads the same screen without taking you back to select a different flight.

I tried this in both IE 7 and Netscape 7.2, same results. One thing I did notice though is it works if you are not logged into your account before the flight search starts.

Exclamation Reward Travel: YYZ-> ICN (no search results)

If I search a reward ticket from Toronto to Seoul (ICN), then
"Continental.com could not find any available flights for reward travel meeting your requirements. You may modify your search criteria, or in the U.S. and Canada call 1-800-300-1547; the U.K., phone 0800 096 1885; elsewhere contact your local Continental Reservations Office for assistance."

But if I search from DTW -> Seoul, then there are a lot.

If I search from YYZ-> DTW, then there are a lot.

Why can't co.com combine them?

Another request: YKF (Kitchener airport, Ontario) is
served by NW. When I search "YKF->DTW",
then it says that YKF is not served by any partner airline.

I would prefer booking online than calling the elite line for an hour.

Reward Issues

1) Was booking Thanksgiving week, ABE-SAV. Had a standard award outbound, full load on the return (duh!). Was playing around looking at other cities (can do open jaw now!) and when I went back to ABE-SAV, the calendar was showing 19 NOV open but the selections were all full load. The only way I could it do display the standard flights was to totally exit out and begin a new search, then the std flight came back in the display.

2) Did a reward trip in Aug. PHL-MDW, ORD-PHL. When I try to access the reservation I get "We were unable to review the latest information for this itinerary".

3) The two itineraries will not assign seats. When I did Chicago I was able to pick seats in the reservation process but at the end it said "unable to assign". The SAV trip I can access online but the seat selections made at the time of reservation as well as later when I pull up the reservation, do not take with the same message given.

Apparently, this plan fizzled out. I still cannot review my (waitlisted) itinerary online.

Unhappy No notification of schedule change

I'm in the midst of a 4-leg trip (EWR/BNA/DCA/EWR) that was ticketed back on 3/26. My return this Sunday on my original itinerary was for 9AM. I wanted to check my arrival time, but when I looked at my account tonight U noticed that the flight was at 10:49A! I'd never been notififed of the 2 hr change. Since I have to fly back out early Monday afternoon and need at least a little bit of time at home, that just wouldn't work.

The upside is that when I called the CSR moved me to the 7:00A flight with no questions asked. As she put it , "I could tell that something wasn't right".

My concern, however, is that I was never notified of the schedule change at all either via email or text msg. I get all of my other notifications via Trip Advisor for departure info and upgrades, so I'm sure it was never sent.

Just booked my flights to the Sept IAH DO on CO.COM.

eTicket Itinerary and Receipt for Confirmation arrived via email seconds later with a footnote next to both flights reading "Check-in at the Northwest Ticket Counter"

That might be a little difficult as NW does not serve CRP so there IS NO NW TICKET COUNTER!

I assume that the program that generated the email saw the 55xx flight number and thought it was a NW codeshare as opposed to Chautauqua Airlines, Inc. dba Continental Express.

Future CO.com suggestion

After booking some tickets for family last week on hawaiianairlines.com, I liked that they had a space to enter the name of the "Travel Planner" in case the person making the reservation is not the traveller. There's probably about 20 people that come to me for making there travel arrangements, and it's often a hastle when I have to call CO for whatever issues come up.
So, I was thinking this might make a nice addition -- then last night I got a call that showed up with an 808 area code. To my surprise, It was Hawaiian Airlines. As soon as I said who I was, they said, "Oh, your the travel planner." They called because my uncle left a bag on board from HNL to KOA - and it would its way back to HNL before being found. I was afraid it might be some very important medication - and upon my approval they opened it up to check.

OLCI (pda.continental.com)

Two issues today.
  1. Unable to check in via OP# or Conf# - eticket # worked. Message stated that there were no flights eligible for check in when I tried with the OP #, and no valid itineraries eligible for check in when I tried with the confirmation number. The e-ticket # worked, but by then I was #8 .
  2. I checked the seat assignment (14a) didn't change it, hit continue and ended up in 28B (IIRC). Quickly fixed (no harm done), but it seemed odd. I'm pretty sure I didn't click anything but "contiinue" on the seat selection screen.

Update: Couldn't get in again today with OP or Conf. Called co.com support. They checked and explained that this occurs when EUA is running (not in those words). I assume that they lock records. Note to CO.COM IT: have you heard of read-locks?

Reward Travel Chart

Was looking to book a Reward ticket ORD - LAS and the outbound date had only easypass rewards but the return flight showed standard FC with the date in color but no standard tickets showed. Anyone else have that problem?
