Do you all remember agonizing over how high the water will be and what we should wear to cover our shoes? Check out this article:

Wow! Between the acqua alta and the syzygy, it's either feast or famine!

I hope the recent Los Angeles rainfall has given you an opportunity to use those spiffy Pucci rain boots :)

Yikes! You'd almost have to WALK to the airport!

And the lovely Ai Mori would be slightly less lovely so we'd have to spend even more time in the bar.

Wonder what sort of interesting stuff they found in the bottom of the canals?

Okay, we managed to get the Venice Meet in before the city dried up.

Don't forget to attend the Tel Aviv Meet next November -- before the city is lashed by incredible blizzards.

Still waiting.....

I couldn't understand why the stranded clothes had not arrived, so I sent an email to darling Marco. Received the following response: Madam, The Mail Box office asked me to have your credit card details in order to check the payment because your box is waiting to be paid. Waiting for your kind reply, I send my personal regards. Yours sincerely, Marco Musco"

I thought Marco had my c.c. on record from our stay. It made me so homesick to hear from him. I wish I were in the bar right now, having a lovely glass of prosecco......sigh.

Dorlee Those are winter clothes. Now, it is nearly Spring. Ask Marco to just store the box until you return :)

Just a note to let you know that me and Dr O2K had a great evening last night with PlatinumBrownGuy. He was as nice as I had remembered; in fact, even nicer, sans PlatinumBrownGirl and PlatinumBrownDude. Hope others from the VCE Meet have a chance to spend an evening with this delightful young man. ^

I'm guessing that this will happen in San Antonio first week of March.
We also are looking forward to seeing platbrownguy again along with WahooFlyer, that other special young man who made an appearance there and then rode with us to Verona one day.
By the way o2k, you and Jerryo2k are not yet on the definite list for SAT, altho we figure that only a real conflict will keep you away. See you there.

The rest is history. Way to go, Dov! Way to go, Bianca!
And left the story boys speechless--or, more accurately, postless.

Dorlee, you must give that man of yours some packing lessons. Clothes should only be stranded at the beginning of a trip, forcing one to buy new, not at the end of a trip. :D

Thanks,Monitor for asking. Actually, our" conflict" is that the Venice Meet was so special, with our own hotel, sweet little bar, breakfast room and, of course, Marco Musco, that our fear is that we would never be able to recreate that special ambiance. VCE was our first FT DO and it is difficult to imagine being scattered in different hotels, bars and only hooking up for dinner. Convince me that I am wrong, you experienced FT Meet veterans.

It seems probable to me that we will be staying in a few different hotels in Tel Aviv, but they will all be within walking distance of each other. We will also be renting a bus for three-four days to be able to tour the country together.

I also imagine that on the nights when we are not touring, we will meet in one hotel's bar (I suggest the piano bar at the Dan) for some time together and to discuss what we might want to do the following day.

In Venice, we only had to take an elevator to the bar. In Tel Aviv we will have to walk 1 to 5 minutes -- I can't see that making much of a difference.

Hi all....I just returned from VCE and it is true, the water is VERY low.....
VCE was as wonderful as always but was not the same without all of you......I think all our good spirits (mind and glass) and excitement just put it over the top as being extra special. Plus perhaps our laughter chased away the fog (peasoup...75' ceiling when we landed).

Mind you, I had a great time seeing all the new restorations being worked on by the SAVE VENICE organization with my friend who is a guide there.......Next trip I want to tour La Fenice.....didn't get it together fast enough this time but they do run English tours...

Punki Jan 18, 2005 5:30 am

Oh dear, obscure2k, if you enjoyed Venice, you must definitely come to San Antonio. It won't be the same as Venice, but it will be wonderful in its own special way.

I have been to dozens of FlyerTalks parties all over the world and, without exception, have always had a fabulous time. The people, as you know, are interesting, adventuresome (after all they do run off an meet other crazies off the internet) :D :D and lots of fun.

The memories of the FlyerTalk events we have enjoyed over the past six years are among some of our very favorites. We want to keep adding to them.
