My Fortuny scarf

Last night I wore my lovely Fortuny scarf, which Dorlee saw me buy. I think that I am more "scarf-challenged" than Dr. O2K. He just managed to get that thing just right around my neck and I don't even know if he was there for the great Dorlee scarf-tying class in the bar of Ai Mori.
Oh, I miss you all so much. Is there a "sob" icon?

Not yet, but on Omni (sorry, have to admit I do go there) I suggested there should be a spewing my drink out of my mouth icon. Perhaps we need to approach RP en masse for more relevant icons?

A reason to re-visit VCE....to buy a scarf

I am kicking myself for not buying one of those gorgeous scarves. The weather has turned cold here, and I could really use one. The Fortuny shop is so beautiful...museum like....that I think I was overwhelmed and just couldn't make a choice.

I really am having "withdrawal" for the VCE group, Ai Mori, and the adorable Marco ;)

Yes, FT needs more smilies:

1. Sob
2. Vomit
3. Heart
4. Flame
5. Bullsn!t

Well, OK, maybe NOT the last two.... :D

I miss everyone too!
Dorlee, if you ever get tired of that black and white feather boa.....it would go so well with so many of my things.... :D

BTW, I am going back to VCE in January for a few days....staying at another hotel on the Grand Canal.....spending time with my friend who guides for the Save Venice organization......will post short notes here to all while I am there. It will be wonderful as VCE always is, but I shall miss you all....ours was a special experience.

True, but I thought we had agreed not to mention it on FlyerTalk out of fear that the UIG might see it!

walking distance between hotels

Oh, yeah............rubbing your pate was magic... :D
Dovster, how far is the Hotel Adiv from the Dan, the Hilton, Intercontinental and Sheraton?

It is very close to the Dan Tel Aviv (half a short block away). It is also quite close to the Sheraton Tel Aviv (perhaps a full block). The Sheraton Moriah is a little further away (but still within a reasonable distance).

The Hilton is outside of easy walking distance for many people and the Dan Panorama and the Intercontinental are both quite far away. In fact, the latter two will require a taxi ride to get to most Tel Aviv places of interest.

The Sheraton City Tower is not really in Tel Aviv, but in the suburb of Ramat Gan and very inconvenient.

Question on wrong thread...

I just resubmitted this question on the correct Tel Aviv thread....can you please paste this onto that page? Grazie! Too early, too sleepy :o

I sincerely hope, obskure2k, that an occasion that required the tying of your Fortuny scarf, means that you are fully recovered from your pneumonia and back out and about. I am up and about again--working, but still not feeling well enough to work out. If I caught this bug in VCE, the trip was still well worth it. :D

Thank you very much KLC for the CD. That was a lot of work and we are very appreciative. What a delightful way to preserve great memories.

Dovster, I trust that you are working on making sure that the weather for the trip to Tel Aviv is as idyllic as the glorious weather we enjoyed in VCE. :D

I do not know whether or not this has been addressed yet in this thread, but some countries allow for non-residents to recoup what had been spent on taxes on a trip.

Does anyone know if Italy is one of those countries? If so, how does one go about receiving a refund?

monitor Dec 27, 2004 7:48 pm

Yes, Italy is one of those countries, but the only way that I have seen it done in the EC is to present your purchases and receipts at a special counter at the airport before you leave the country. Since we bought nothing this trip, I cannot absolutely vouch for Italy's procedures at this moment, but I would be fairly certain that it is the same.

And we left at the crap of dawn, waaaaybefore the sun came up. There wasn't even a coffee shop open at the hour we departed VCE.
Ms.Everywhere was perhaps the big spender on this trip. And maybe she has this figured out already.

monitor Dec 27, 2004 8:15 pm

But she had the purchases shipped over from a reputable house which probably had a way of conforming to whatever procedure is designed to cover a "send" transaction.

Cholula,

Believe me, I asked Dovster before we left, before I even thought of spending so much money.........

I don't remember exactly what the answer was (too many bottles of vino ago), but the bottom line was that it wasn't worth the hassle to try to reclaim the VAT (Value Added Tax) that was paid.

Maybe Dovster can chime in on this. Or maybe I should have taken into account that his idea of big spending was one little mask that would fit in the palm of my hand.
