The word "si" is not pronounced in Italian.
I know that because no matter how many women I have propositioned here, I am yet to hear even one of them say it. It is often replaced with sarcastic laughter and, once in a while, with a waving of the right hand which winds up smacking my face sharply. |
That is absolutely not true, Dovster. I distinctly remember you asking a waitress if you were being a bother and she emphatically said, "Si, si!"
Then there was the time that you asked a young lady if you had offended her and..................well suffice it to say there were several occasions when I heard Italian girls say "Si" in response to at least some of your queries. :D :D |
Even in the United States, women who have been propositioned by Dovster have said “Si”.
Example: Dovster propositions a woman in front of her spouse/boyfriend. After smacking Dovster’s face sharply with the right hand, she turns to her spouse/boyfriend and excalims “Si? Si that? He did it again! Finish him off!” The moral of this example is that whether women say “Si” or “No” to Dovster, he automatically is the recipient of the face sharply smacked with the right hand of a woman — and sometimes gets the frequent harrasser bonus of receiving stronger contact from men as well... |

Women who were interviewed after being propositioned by Dovster were asked a variety of questions to answer, including the following question: Question: What is your initial reaction after being propositioned by Dovster? Answer: I scream. Dovster was rejected so often that the composition of his proposition became a conposition and therefore an imposition referring to any position, if you know what I mean... |

Aha! So when she was the 1,000th woman propositioned, Bianca graciously replied "Gelato" rather than "I scream" and poor Dov's limited Italian interpreted this as "Grazie" So he sold his DoveBar to Hershey and is now apparently very, very wealthy. The rest is history. Way to go, Dov! Way to go, Bianca!

Dorlee's reciipe for SGROPPINO -2 cups (1 pint) lemon sorbet, 2 tbsp. vodka (or more, to taste), 1/3 cup Prosecco sounds rather like what Michael and Joanne made in the kitchen on Christmas Day. Everybody really, really liked it, but after waiting for a long, long time while they were experimenting in the kitchen we would have really, really liked a rawhide bone. It's part of our Christmas now and forever.
BTW, Joanne so enjoyed her first trip out of the US she has set a date for Italy 2006 with her Italian-American husband. Think you guys played a big part in making her trip enjoyable. ~Pat, trying to make this thread reach 1700. |
