I will pass on the sleeper sofa — but thank you anyway fo the thought.

However, Dovster could sleep on the cot...

I am up for anything, but here are a couple of my concerns with LAS:

1. Is LAS too much of a stretch for our international visitors?

2. Is it possible to recapture anything close to the intimate "group" feeling that we achieved in VCE? LAS hotels are huge and somewhat overwhelming, maybe a place like San Antonio, New Orleans or Savannah would work better.

3. What trade shows are going on in LAS? LAS can be a real bargain if the timing is right, but major shows can take over the town and drive prices sky high. I will check tomorrow and see what shows are scheduled and for which dates.

Punki raises some good points.
1. I don't think that LAS would be too much of a stretch for our international visits.
2. This is the issue which concerns me. I can't see how we could possibly capture anything like the "intimate group" feeling we achieved in VCE. The VCE meet had all of the stars aligned for us....a small hotel, which was basically ours...a friendly little bar which served as a sweet little meeting place....a nice neighborhood with inexpensive trattorias within walking distance....a basically small town rich in culture and history....there was kind of something for everyone. I can't imagine the above scenario in Las Vegas. Still, I have little doubt that a Meet in LAS could be fun; just very very different from our VCE experience.

I doubt that I will be attending as any flight I make to the States automatically includes a week in FLL, so tacking on a visit to LAS would put far out of my travel budget.
What would work for you, Dovster.

I don't think I should be taken into consideration for this meet at all. My flights for the coming year will be to Milan (three or four times) and possibly Germany for the Munich Meet.

The only flights I will take to America will be to FLL and that will be determined within a month or less of the flight and will be highly dependant on my mother's health.

O2K's VCE photos

my photos are here

Sorry about the Pug Message at top of page. That is what one gets when one calls on children to help. Now I don't know how to get rid of it. At least I got some photos up.

Thanks, Dov. You gotta love tech-savvy kids.

Well, I was sure I would have all of my souvenirs from Venice by now!

Just tracked my masks, they made it all the way to Rome already. I don't know if they shipped my glass stuff yet. :p

Heya everybody.

First off, I'm sorry I wasn't there to say goodbye to everyone Monday morning at the Ai Mori. In case you hadn't heard what really happened, when we went out after dinner at 40 Ladroni, PBGal and PBDude ended up getting riotously drunk at a bar by the Rialto and began making out/groping, etc. right there at the bar, effectively making me the third wheel. I managed to get John's key to his room at the Dei Dogi, went and gathered my stuff up from the Ai Mori, had a great conversation with the night manager who poured me a nice tall drink, and then went over to the Dogi for a few hours' sleep.

In the morning I really didn't want to even talk to Emily or Jon so I just went to the airport... I was so annoyed that I completely forgot about the fact that I would miss out on saying bye to everyone :(. I did of course see them on the VCE-LGW flight and I passed Emily a 50-Euro note to cover the bar tab from the Ai Mori but we didn't talk.

In London I went off on my own and had a great relaxing day in my 2nd favorite city, and I got back home on Tuesday 11/23 (though I ended up taking DL instead of BA because I missed the BA flight, but that was no biggie).

It would have been one thing if PBGal and PBDude had just hooked up after getting back to the hotel, but making me the third wheel while we were out, especially after I'd used quite a lot of miles to get her out there, seems disrespectful to me...

Anyways, enough of that.

What about a Ski-DO for a Spring DO? Seeing as SLC is a DL hub and the likes of Snowbird, Solitude, and Alta are so very close to the city, it would seem like a reasonable option.

Of course, I have to come up with alternatives - if you have a meet in Vegas, I wouldn't be able to come ;).

Dovster Dec 7, 2004 11:30 pm

I think the problem might have been caused by Emily finding out that she was not Platbrowngal A -- or, for that matter, B, C, D, E or any other letter up to Q.

Girls tend to get a bit insulted when they find out they were your 17th choice.

In fact, I think Emily was actually your 18th choice. As I recall, you chose Platbrowndude before her.

Of course, I can't imagine how she found out about this. Unless, of course, it was when I accidently let it slip when I was trying to seduce her. That was moments before I realized that the UIG was right behind me and in the process of smashing a bottle of Soave Bolla on the top of my head.

Suggestion: For the Tel Aviv Meet, bring Platbrowngal A. I realize that her parents are not overly thrilled at the thought of their daughter flying off across the pond with you, but face up to the situation like a man and tell Platbrowngal A to lie like crazy.

All she need to is tell her folks that she entered a church raffle and won first prize: A trip to the Holy Land.

Of course, just in case her parents take her to the airport to see her off, it would be better if you were not there also -- they might get a bit suspicious. Therefore, have her leave a couple of days before you do. Don't worry about her getting lost or not being able to find a place to stay. I will pick her up at the airport and take her back to my house.

Dovster Dec 7, 2004 11:38 pm

PS: It also did not help that on your first night there you dumped Emily and went to the casino.

I know this because I was the one you went to the casino with you. I later discovered that while we were there, the UIG and Cholula went to a bar near the Rialto and got riotously drunk.

I am not sure what happened there, but the UIG told me later that "his sauce is not the only thing about him that is hot!"
