Besides, I tried to convince the Dovster to launch a new thread pertaining to Tel Aviv, but Aviv apparently did not like that.

I'll ask O2K to look into a location asap..... Tiring of steaks, lamb shanks, pork roast, proscuitto and cheese pannini, margherita pizza with rucola, we eventually watched Michael eat chingale. Looked like nicely braised beef. Not! What is the Israeli national dish? Hebrew National hot dogs from Costco are all I know ... BTW, the Bea Vita staff told us the frou-frou drink (for 30) was one kilo of lemon "ice cream" one "bottle" of prosecco, and one "glass" of vodka. Toss on some holly berry garnish for the holidays and you can't go wrong. |
Oh Hurray, for you lili-dui. It sounds like you have gotten past the "Oh my God, are they really a bunch of axe murderers?" stage in your FlyerTalk participation. :D :D
Hope to see you, Michael and Joanne around again. |

The national dish of Israel is the fellafel. This is fried chickpeas and tastes as bad as it sounds. Israelis, however, are fanatical about it. You can get it on every second block in Tel Aviv, in pita bread, with your choice of tons of green and red garbage for about $2. Israel is a nation of immigrants and, as such, really has no national cuisine. On the other hand, there is a tremendous variety of truly excellent restaurants: French, Italian, Rumanian, Hungarian, Argentinian -- just about anything that you can imagine. My own personal favorite are Middle Eastern restaurants owned and run by Arabs. The lamb there can not be beaten. (I know. I tried beating one and its owner got very upset.) As a Mediterranean city, Tel Aviv also has quite a few seafood places but there is no way I am going to pick one of them for a Meet! |
dedehans photos on end of KLC's site

KLC has very kindly put a couple of my photos on her site here.....I am totally clueless as to how to do it so, grazie tanto, KLC! |
I am having some second thoughts vis-a-vis the timing of starting a thread for a Tel Aviv Meet. My concern is that if I start too late many of you will not be able to get award tickets.
Two questions: Are there enough people interested in coming here to warrant having the Meet at all? If so, when do you think a thread should be started? |

I just simply want to have a fun time like I did in Venice. |
Note to self: Cancel the warrant for Canarsie.
Second note to self: Never let Canarsie know that "warrant" is Hebrew for "incredibly gorgeous woman". |

Often, interest is generated because of a thread. Look no further than this Venice Meet thread as proof. I suppose that for those who celebrate Passover each year, “Next Year in Jerusalem” will actually become reality! |

Thanks to all for making this such a great Meet
The laryngitis I had during the second week developed into pneumonia, so I have been just resting and healing since my return home this past weekend. Finally feeling strong enough to post some of my thoughts on the Venice Meet. For me and Dr.O2K, it was an extraordinary time. It was our first "meet" and surely will not be our last. I loved meeting some of our FT legends as well as some of the newer members. As well, I thought that Marco Musco really went out of his way to make the FT'rs feel welcome. The welcoming bottle of Prosecco was a nice gesture as well as the FT billboard in the lobby. I have very much enjoyed seeing the great photos by Punki and KLC. FYI, the weather continued to remain beautiful during the second week. In 2 weeks, we had no rain or fog. I hope that others now share my passion for Vce during the off-season. I know that I'll return and hope to see others from the meet again. Thanks to Dov for being a good helpmate. Thanks again to everyone who attended and participated in this very memorable meet. To all of you who have PM'd me and not received a response, hope you understand.

I am sorry to hear that your laryngitis developed into pneumonia, obscure2k, but I am glad that you are recovering. May you recover back to full excellent health as soon as possible.
------------------------------- I had a thought: perhaps it is now time for the husband of obscure2k to begin posting on FlyerTalk and log on with the FlyerTalk name Dr. O2K. By doing so, he may not enjoy it nor may he exact any true additional benefit from becoming a FlyerTalk member (as obscure2k is already a FlyerTalk member), which could mean that the husband of obscure2k registering as a FlyerTalk member may therefore actually qualify as a purely altruistic action on his part... |

Dr. O2K is a brain analyzer and may have seen too many strange minds over the last few weeks to wish to jump into this mileage hounds malay here.... However, he was having a great time with us pazos! (nutties).. :D |
