I am glad that there is a happy ending to your saga, Punki, as I did not want to see any excess baggage associated with the conclusion of the Venice Meet...

Sgroppino recipe needed
I know the sgroppino contained lemon sorbet, vodka, and prosecco, but did someone get the correct proportions?
I want to fix them for Christmas dinner as a "palate cleanser " ;) This was the drink we had at the "Flayertalk Group" dinner at Osteria Bea Vita |

or - a google search returns several recipes, e.g.
http://www.agferrari.com/index.php/sgroppino.html Cheers! |
Israeli Grappa?
So Dov, will we be able to get proper sgroppino lemon palate cleansers in Tel Aviv?
Perhaps you need to store the recipe somewhere for the FT Tel a Do...... |
Here is a request for Mr. Dovster:
Please start a thread here in the CommunityBuzz! forum concerning the proposed Tel Aviv meet, if that is indeed what is planned. I am unsure as to whether or not I would be able to attend, but I do have some questions:

But to answer your questions: 1. I think it would be foolish to come to Israel and not go to Jerusalem and the Sea of Galilee -- at a very minimum. Keep in mind, however, that this is a very small country. You can get into a car in Tel Aviv and be in Jerusalem in an hour; the Sea of Galilee would take two hours. There is very good public transportation and tours are easily arranged. As the time grows closer, we can decide whether to arrange for day tours in advance or to set them up when people are here. 2. There are no neighboring countries you can visit other than Egypt and Jordan. Egypt (other than flying) means the Sinai Desert only. Jordan is a pain to get to except, again, by air. If anyone wants to go to one of these countries I will do my best to help them but it will not be part of the organized Meet. |
Secret ingredients in the sgroppino?

I don't eat sweets, nor do I drink fru fru drinks, but that sgroppino was good.
Early to mid November for Tel Aviv is good for us. Despite the comments that may be made by his "friends" Cholula and Carnasie, the Dovster is an excellent guide----------well at least in Venice. |

Nobody should be saddled with the disgrace of having his name coupled with those of Cholula and Canarsie! |

I want to take this opportunity to publicly thank Canarsie for the restraint he showed in this thread by not saying that I had named it after myself.
It must have killed him not to say that "Dovster is a real turkey -- and we all know that turkey is the November meat." |

Tel Aviv for next October/November sounds great and you can count at least me and Mrs. Cholula as possible definite maybes. She'll be fully retired by then and I won't be too far behind. And I'll be in a DL SkyMiles burning mood. And with Israel being located on the Mediterranean, I'll bet we can count on another "squiggly, slimy" seafood dinner for our meet! :p I'll ask O2K to look into a location asap..... |
So will we run this thread up to 50,000 to 100,000 views and 5,000 to 10,000 posts without anyone every noticing that the emphasis has switched from Venice to Tel Aviv, or will we eventually start an independent Tel Aviv thread?
I am sorry Dov, but you Cholula and Canarsie are forever linked in my mind. If you don't want people to link you with them, you must refrain from responding to their jokes (no matter how good or bad they might be). |
Cholula, Dovster, Canarsie
