Oh, dear. I can't believe that Canarsie and Dovster haven't punned up something about male FlyerTalkers' expertise in dealing with the contents of drawers. ;)

Rudi, my most beloved sibling, please bear in mind that I also have many unedited shots of you. :D :D

Where the heck were you anyway? This was a wonderful party that (except for the seafood) you and your lovely bride would have loved.

OBTW, my bag, that parted our company in VCE, showed up at our neighbors' home today--we are in Whistler, missing Rudi. Poor Hunki's bag is still missing. Too bad. He wants his black suit pants for our trip to TPA on Wednesday.

The bag also contain our "Hebrew" T-shirt, which I believe arrived courtesy of the Dovster. I certainly hope that it is packed in the proper direction. :o

Punki, I just hope it was packed in such a way as to allow the TSA to read it when the suitcase is opened for inspection. :D

I'd like to again ask the members of the Travel Safety/Security Forum to refrain from bashing the TSA.
Thanks for your usual fine cooperation.....

Cholula, I don't understand your post. As I recall, the Hebrew t-shirt in question made reference to what Jews consider to be the first commandment made in Genesis. ("Be fruitful and multiply.")

Sorry, Punki, but I was specifically instructed by the people that work at the bureau to not discuss matters such as this...

Or in other words, it suggested the person reading the t-shirt commit an unnatural and exceptionally acrobatic act...;).
But the shirt was very well designed....you had to be standing on your head to read it in this manner.
And if you were already standing on your head.....:o

I can't talk for Canarsie, but I have a very valid reason for avoiding this subject.

When we were in Venice, Hunki pulled me aside and said that I can discuss your dresses and sweaters but that he would make mincemeat out of me if I ever got into your drawers.

Not necessarily. If you were fully reclined in one of those wonderful AF First Class seats and an FA were to approach you from behind, she would get the message quite clearly.

sounds like I missed a party while I was in NY. :(

Didn’t the bureau warn you not to get your thoughts of drawers off of your chest, Dovster?!?

The fact that we departed at 4:15 AM is simply no excuse for her behavior....

Not only did o2k wave a fond goodbye, but on the day we went to Verona, Canarsie personally escorted Monitor, Franny, Wahoo Flyer, Leonard and me to the train. He waved wildly, blew kisses, and I think I saw a tear or two. Were they tears of sadness, or joy?

Punki,

You're coming to TPA next week? KLC and I live here. I enjoyed meeting you and Hunki tremendously! If you have time, send me a PM or call me @ 813.949.3000. I would love to get together with you again!

It could have been a bead of sweat from the mad dash to the train station.
Or, more likely, a bead of sweat in anticipation of monitor's post about his "unerring" sense of direction in VCE.
I arrived at the Ai Mori a few minutes after the Verona train crowd returned to the hotel. As usual, everybody headed to the bar for some liquid refreshment. I noticed monitor wasn't in the bar and I asked where he was. Franny said he couldn't stand it one minute longer until he could get to his room and post the following....:D :

This would be our most geographically challenged friend, Canarsie, who caught up to us on our way to the Railroad Station in Venice and firmly informed us that the turn that we were going to make was the wrong way, because he had come this other way only a few days before and this was a shorter route. Altho I am not really good speaking Italian, I sure read it well and I know that the arrow pointing to Ferrovia was definitely showing an OK route, but the certainty with which Canarsie proposed his alternate swayed all of our thinking, so Dorlee & Leonard, Wahoo Flyer, and Franny & I just followed along, me figuring "How far out of the way can we go because this seemed to be generally leading in the right direction?"

The answer to that question was "Very far." It turned out to be very not good, for altho we had left a 20 minute pad in our route to allow for such contingencies as long ticket lines, broken ticket machines (this is of course, Italy), etc., we had our tour guide for the day (a distinguished Italianate gentlemen known as "Il Dovsterino"), waiting for us at the station in Verona. We certainly had not figured on about a ten minute walk in the wrong direction (requiring a ten minute return walk because there is no easy way of correcting a mistake in this town if you are on the wrong side of a canal) following our leader, Canarsie.

But all ended well and we just made the train, after Wahoo Flyer had grabbed a ticket machine and bought us first class tickets, which was a giant waste because we never found any cars but 2d class. We also had very little trouble finding our guide at the other end, due to a certain leather hat (which at this stage may better belong in the trash than protecting the baldo described above as Bianca's joy), which remained precariously perched above the faux Michael Jordan looking scalp (remember that this is an equal insult thread and how can one insult Canarsie for leading you astray when you have an appointment with the Dovster without insulting the Dovster just as well?).

Anyhow, we ended up having a very nice time in Verona and we hope that Canarsie was able to find the airport (I don't think that we'll ever know about him until he lets us know) and that his route home was not something like changing at Warsaw and stopping over in Helsinki (like the Prague-Cyprus quinela that he played coming over).

Moral of the story is "Never let Canarsie lead the way", because altho he is a great guy, if you did you might get into serous trouble in a place like Israel, where you really can get into a mess if you go too far wrong.

No tears were shed, but it was still sadness as you were the last FlyerTalk members that I saw in person before heading home.

That was when I knew the Venice Meet had officially ended for me.

I almost ran alongside of the train as it departed, but it sufficed that my bus to the airport drove alongside of your train as both modes of transportation left Venice...

To paraphrase a fellow photographer, if I've included any objectionable photos, please let me know and I will delete them from my album.

We're still working out the approval/release process for the proposed group CD. Stay tuned for status!
