Canarsie..thanks for checking in.... !
I was thinking about you today and thought you may still be in Prague but realized time is slipping by and it's already Tuesday.
Inquiring minds want to know how brutal Czech Airlines is in coach. You can wait to inform us in VCE or post here so we can commiserate with you en masse.

The food was quite good, the service was friendly and the aircraft were clean.

In all honesty, I hardly missed being in the forward cabin.

There were minor problems, such as the entertainment system not working properly. The seats were uncomfortable for the purpose of sleeping, but it did not seem like I would fare much better anyway in the business class section. Plus, they tried to seat me in the back, but I won out.

Details are to come when I see all of you, although nothing exciting.

I enjoyed Prague and all the things I actually did there. However, two straight nights of overnight flights with virtually no sleep can really wipe one out.

I hope to recover tonight at the Hilton where I have a room, but the sun did not even rise yet today, so I have a lo-o-o-ong way to go...

We may not come after all. We just learned that our outbound flights are oversold--in all classes. We are at the top of the upgrade list, but.................but, but what if we end up in coach. Oh dear, oh me. Coach? We have never flown international coach.

Should we muddle on and take obscure2k's wonderful advice and bring a bottle of vodka and drink it on the plane.   Yikes!!! Can old people survive a trans-Atlantic flight in coach? (The good news is that we have more leg room than anyone on the plane, in any class. Row 35 on a 747--close to the toilets.) :D :D

Maybe we should just pray for really bad weather in the NorthEast so that everyone coming on down from NYC misses their flight, leaving lots and lot of open seats for us. Where can one buy weather VooDoos?

Of course, we could suffer through in coach and learn humility in our old age. (Why would we want to learn humility after carefully having escaped it for a good lifetime?)

Is this an adventure? Will we like adventures?

Oy!

Are you sure about that? I've noticed most people in PBguy's age group assume their elders will pick up the check (and not the chick.)

I'm claiming senior citizen fixed-income status so unfortunately will be unable to help out.

Been there, done that. Doing it again. It's an adventure. Rather like going to the dentist or proctologist.

International coach is only 12 hours worse than domestic coach. Put your FT luggage tag on your Bistro Bag and we'll meet and greet in line near the rear mini-lavs.

Oy indeed! And perhaps Oy Vey is even more apropos.
Mrs. Cholula and I flew International Coach one time and it was in our no status, younger and poorer days. We flew LAX/NRT/HKG/SIN/HKG/NRT/LAX in a four day period and, 20 years later, are still suffering.
We swore never to do that again and have been true to our word.
I certainly hope you guys make it but certainly wouldn't fault you for not wanting to do a 13,000 mile RT in Dovster-Class.
Let's hope the upgrades come through....

While I do not normally assume older people will pick up the check (and while I usually pick it up myself more often than I should), I am more than happy to allow Dovster to pick up my bar tab on Friday.

I am also more than happy to consume said drinks while watching Dovster attempt to converse with a 19-year-old girl from Oklahoma. Anyone bringing a video camera? :D

Hey everyone - don't tell Cholula, but on the night of the big dinner, after we're done eating, we're going to pull one of those stunts where a few people get up and go to the bathroom but they disappear, so a few more people go to look for them, but then they disappear too, and then Cholula will be left with the bill to pay all by himself... this will be made even better if he leaves his euros at home!

Yes, lili-dui, bring the camera battery... this will be good times!

Take your best shot, platbrownguy, but remember....I've been there and done that before you were even a twinkle in platbrowndad's eye.
And don't forget, I've also been at a DL Do with Dovster when he thought he had also come up with an "original" idea :

Dovster..."Hey, Cholula, do you mind picking up the check? I seem to have left my wallet in the safe at the Ramada".

Cholula..."No problem Dovster. My wallet is outside in the car. I'll go grab it and be right back".....:D.

Regarding the restaurant: O2K, you rock ^.

I'm getting excited :). See everyone in Venice!

Ditto to all three comments above. ^

Footnotes/addenda to these comments:

1. I called a local (San Francisco) branch of The Change Group to see how many Euros I could buy for US $100. The answer was.... 69 Euros. :td: I agree that we'll likely do better at an ATM, even with a $3 transaction fee.

2. :-: :-: :-: :-: :-: to O2K!

3. I'm flying tomorrow. Ci vediamo a Venezia!

Why do I have the incredible urge to start this post with the following quote?

Welcome to Cyprus, Monkeys and Goats

International coach is not all that bad -- I generally fly it because Cholula is greedily hoarding his billions of SkyMiles and refuses to use them to upgrade me.

It was only about three years ago that I took a 19-year-old girl on a trip to the Greek island of Rhodes and I had absolutely no problem conversing with her. And I am not too shy to admit that I not only satisifed that girl but actually gave her a lot more than she expected!

"Daddy, that looks like a nice store. Can I go in there?"

"Sure, honey. Here's my Visa."

Dovster, it's quite possible that you and Platbrowngal will have the exact same conversation this weekend :D.
