Current VCE info re.Hotel and watertaxi

Forgive typos. Different computer. First, AiMORI is a little jewelbox of a hotel. I believe all will be very very pleased. Re: watertaxi from airport--
After baggage claim, exit through green line (nothing to declare). Shuttle bus will be right at curbside. (you want the one which says NAVETTO) This will take you close to pier. There are carts just across from the bus-stop. A 30 second walk will take you to the taxi dispatcher. He is the guy with the clipboard. Tell him that you are going to AiMori. Fare is 80Euros. (no tip, please) Driver will unload bags and bellman will take them into hotel. I asked about more people and he said that depending on the baggage, the boat could hold about 5 people and price would be approx 90 Euros. Weather is clear and cool. Streets are dry, for now. BTW. if you do not have 1 Eu coins on you for luggage cart, there is a change machine at baggage.
VCE is great and gorgeous, we love the hotel and look forward to the first FT arrivals here on Thursday.

That will probably be the UIG and myself, assuming I can get her up early enough to be in Venice by 9 a.m.

In view of that fact, perhaps you might want to re-word your statement: "we love the hotel and look forward to one of the two first FT arrivals here on Thursday."

O2K,

Does the hotel have shampoo, conditioner, & hair dryers?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any idea how much are each of these transit cards?

Thank you for the clarification.

Canarsie,

The Venice Card also includes some type of medical insurance & legal assistance. I was going to buy travel medical insurance until I read about what the card has. I heard that Italy has socialized medicine. A friend of mine got sick there and had to have surgery. Her insurance she had purchased from AAA paid for change of flights for her and companion, and a room and board for the companion. Italy paid for her medical care.

Second the question.....especially conditioner....not a shampoo/conditioner combo....two more things.....decent sized bar of soap? Nice smelling hand and body lotion?

Until your butt hits VCE and you start mooching off your DL Forum buddies, I don't consider your Odyssey to have begun.
BTW, Odyssey is a tough word to type. Who invented this word??

Cholula,

Odyssey was named after Odysseus. He was gone on a long journey. He kinda got lost, took him 20 years to make it home. His wife got tired of waiting for him.

See Odysseus

Hello, all!

Cholula, who all is joining you on in the water taxi?

Me and Platbrowngal will be arriving on Friday and are still interested in sharing said water taxi... Platbrowngal 4Q won't be arriving until Saturday so that's a non-issue.

Assuming there's you, Mrs. C, and Belle, that plus us makes 5 which would work.

If there are others we don't know about, I'll just distract you while Platbrowngal empties the contents of your massive suitcase and zips herself inside of it. :)

^^ to the weather being cool and dry.

Their web site says they have hair dryers, but I don't remember about shampoo & conditioner. I'm getting so excited!

The above post is a base canard. Franny and I can vouch for the fact that the Dovster seems to intend to pay his own way and not be the mooch that Cholula is making him out to be.

The other night (now hold your breath), Dovster pulled down the dinner check and, contrary to my usual practice, I let him take it.

I can however vouch for the fact that he has been eating his way thru the States because he appeared to be a bit bulkier this time than he was in the spring. Maybe in Venice, somebody can make a good deal with him on a cashmere sport coat that it is unlikely that he can any longer get into.

I was very grateful to Monitor for two things:

1. Letting me pay the check.

2. Not noticing that I used his credit card.

I have a minor hiccough, namely that I managed to leave my wallet in the wrong coat when I flew out to Milan on Sunday. Can anyone confirm my understanding that the American Express office in Venice is somewhere near Piazza San Marco?

Dovster Nov 15, 2004 3:06 pm

Nick, it is on Salizzada S. Moise, a few minutes walk from the Piazza.

MsEverywhere.....I have a sneaking doubt that a Venice Card which costs around $10 per day and includes unlimited transportation, unlimited pubic bathroom use and other odds and ends will also include a comprehensive first class medical policy. I KNOW what the website said but you really have to think this through.
I'd make sure I had some other sort of medical coverage as a back-up.
Just my two cents worth.....
