To further update my Post #150 two years ago, the CNMI Deputy Attorney General mentioned that the CNMI OAG is looking to hire an Assistant Attorney General as a prosecutor in Criminal Division (white collar experience preferred), and also some AAGs in its Civil Division, including a lawyer to work with the CNMI's guest worker program during its (likely) final year, a tax lawyer, and a civil litigator.

Here is the OAG's listing with the National Association for Law Placement (NALP).

Here is a page of their 2004-05 website (which stayed online a couple more years unmodified). Note that the e-mail information is wrong, and the NALP information above is a lot more updated.

Information Assurance Expert/Attorney

Does your organization need to comply with HIPAA, DIACAP, SOX, GLB, PCI, or other regulatory scheme that requires that you not only secure your computer systems and networks, but prove you have done so by means of testing, risk assessment, vulnerability assessment, and/or penetration testing? I've written computer security policy manuals for government agencies -- I've consulted for several -- and at various times have been hired to try hack into banks and other organizations' workstations and networks.

I'm also a practicing attorney and former State of California Industrial Relations Counsel.

When, as for example right now, I'm between W-2 jobs, I ramp up the solo law practice and go out and hustle for clients. I've recently defended kids who were sued for alleged music piracy; and other types of cases I've handled include defending so-called "zombie debt" cases and other small business and consumer litigation matters here in Southern California.

I'd rather have a W-2 job, especially in information assurance/computer security, so if you know of something give a holler. No, my limited law caseload won't inhibit me from working full-time.

I'd prefer to stay in SoCal, but, of course, I'd love to be traveling and earning miles.

Job Postings geared towards FlyerTalkers?

Hi gang,

I've been around for a few years here and I know there is a LOT OF TALENT that visits this website...

In this day and age, I know many people are losing their jobs, or looking to pick up additional work.

My firm is looking for a specific position (IT related) and it would be great to find someone who also loves to travel & the airline business - its a contract/part time job, but wondering if there is a proper venue to advertise this here?

thanks!

Very cool!

Thanks for starting the thread.

It is a shame that the original Hire a FlyerTalker thread has vanished. Comicwoman had a brilliant idea when she launched that thread. May this thread be far more successful and useful than the original version!

This is a reminder that the The FlyerTalk Business Exchange Forum thread still exists for those people who wish to promote commerce within the FlyerTalk community and inform other FlyerTalk members of the products and services offered by their businesses.

Hopefully, if the The FlyerTalk Business Exchange Forum is successful enough and helps FlyerTalk members grow their business and therefore need to hire more employees, then this thread will become even more popular and useful...

Frequent flying and good jobs

Fellow flyers:

I'm trying something new so please hear me out!

I love traveling and I would very much like to find a job that lets me do this. My background is in medical market research, but I would ideally like to find something with a pharma/biotech/medical device company in global product management. I just graduated from Brown with a Masters in Business Engineering and a 4.0 GPA.

Is there anyone here who would be willing to speak with me offline about potential opportunities or put me in contact with someone who might be able to help me?

If not, it would be great if you can post what kind of job you have that lets you travel so much and also how you enjoy it!

Thanks!!

I know someone that sells artificial limbs to hospitals all over the world. Not sure what sort of degree they have. But it's constant J travel with an excellent salary and many many points/miles earned in a year.

A few points of etiquette when contacting. . .

somebody that you contact based on their postings on this board. Have the courtesy of following up. Several people contacted me, I told them exactly what the next steps were, etc. and then "crickets. " I realize that many folks are new to looking for a job but this is common courtesy. Even if this may not be the perfect position now it's always a good idea to let somebody know.

If you are interviewed for a position, make sure you are committed to being open for the position. It takes time and money to interview people. If you aren't interested, then state that before the interviews start.

I am just about ready to give up with the whole job search idea. I've had it.

I'm not saying it has anything to do with hire a FlyerTalker thread, but this place will have to do for my venting. The interviews that I've been to lately, although very promissing and I had looked forward to them for a long time, turned out to be total turds. While everything about my background "sounded good" all I was offered were jobs that made me wonder why did I go for my Masters if all they are looking for is a Chubb's or Lincoln Tech graduate doing web design. ugh, its insulting!

I would rather move to Hawaii and flip burgers for a living than continue in this path, its so demoralizing.

Anyway, good luck to those that actually find something in this economy!

FREE, one day Career Crisis Skills Conference, October 18

JerseyVics, I can understand that the job search can be a trying time. I spent a long stretch of time unemployed after the Internet bubble burst. For the past few years I've been listening to Manager Tools podcasts and following their advice with great success. In light of the troubles in the economy, they are giving a free seminar in NYC on October 18th. You are lucky enough to be in the area already so you may find it beneficial.

We will conduct the training/seminar at the Marriott East Side in Manhattan (map, sw corner 49th and Lex), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be room for 300 attendees on a first come, first served basis. We apologize for the limitations, but we couldn’t get bigger space for a reasonable price fast enough.

This conference will be FREE. We won’t be trying to sell anything in the back of the ballroom. We’re doing this training free to address many of our listeners and members who have called and emailed asking, “What do I do?”

If you yourself can’t make it, please share this information with anyone who might need this free help in the greater NYC area.

We will cover 4 major topics:

Your Resume - The one’s we’ve seen in the last 1-2 weeks needed LOTS of help.

Your Preparation - How to get ready to interview (and improve your resume).

Your Search - Things you can do now, and how to do them.

Your Interviews - All five parts of every interview, what’s going to happen and what to do in each step.

Again, this training is FREE. We’re doing this to help members and other professionals affected by the difficulties in the financial industries recently.

I'll have to get there bright and early, thanks for the heads up!
