Hello! I'm a conductor (performance and education) living in central NJ and working there and in NYC. I've been traveling all my life, though for school/work reasons for the past few years it's been limited to "official" travel (i.e. auditions, tours, etc.) - which is great, and a wonderful way to see places for free (Japan, UK, Hungary, Mexico, and various US destinations), but it's not exactly a vacation!
Luckily, I'm now in a situation where I have more potential for leisure travel, and want to learn how to earn/utilize/use miles and points (I don't have nearly as many as the rest of you, but hopefully before long!) and learn more things that can help inform my future trips . . . Thanks in advance! Looks like this is a fun place. :) MWG |
Just rediscovered this site! I'm from DFW (Texas) and run a computer security and computer forensics firm.
Travel internationally 6-8 times/yr. Mostly Europe (LHR, AMS, FRA, WAW) trying to build our EU operations and South Africa (JNB, DUR). Like to play golf when I go (time & weather permitting). I like to book my own travel and get somewhat frustrated by the airline sites, and the normal other sites (orbitz, etc.). Sometimes tough to arrange multi-city travel on the sites. So I hoping I can get some tips, etc. from this site. Also use TripAdvisor quite a lot, I find it very helpful. Any recommendations on good golf courses near LHR, FRA or JNB would be welcome. Cheers, Kelly |
I've been posting here long enough, I figure it's about time to introduce myself formally ;)
I'm a 22 year old recent college grad (SCU) living in Santa Clara/San Jose, CA. Without going into too many details, I'm currently working in the advisory/consulting practice of a Big 4 accounting firm. I was recently moved into a specialty subset of my group that keeps me on the road nearly 100%, generally going back and forth to the same city for many weeks/months at a time. Lately and for most of Jan/Feb 2009, I'll be working in LA (Manhattan Beach). Feel free to hit me up for drinks or dinner sometime! Who knows where my future travels will take me |
The Tri-city Traveler
Hi all,
It's so rare to find a forum that's also a real community, it took me hundreds of post and years of activity to realize I'd actually like to introduce myself! Travel is not only part of my life, it has led to what my life is today. Born in Paris, France, lived in New York, studied in Michigan, and now in Los Angeles. I love to travel, as long as I'm heading west! I unfortunately never get to travel for business, but a lot for leisure, and because my friends and family live in far-away cities. I pay for every single one of my tickets, and that's where Flyertalk comes in handy. I used to buy the cheapest ticket, get to the airport 3 hours early, and end up in a middle-seat. Now I'm a faithful traveler, I show up right for boarding and seat in an exit row when my upgrades don't clear. A little time on Flyertalk goes a long way... Benjh. PS: I'm currently looking for a job as an assistant in Movie or TV production, LA or NY. If you'd like to help, send me a message! |
Wow. I would have definitely put a little more thought/creativity into my "bio" if I had known it was going to get featured in the TalkMail newsletter that showed up in my inbox this morning! :)

after lurking around for a couple months, i've finally joined....hello :D

Hi all -- glad I fly for work a bit. I've been an aviation nerd since I first grabbed my stuffed animals, lined the lot up in lawn chairs, and flew 'em to the Faroe Islands (which I thought were tropical) when I was 5. Gotten a lot of helpful tips about UA over the last year; looking forward to more, and adding a few once in awhile.

I'm Paul and I live in Rye NH just off of the beach. I'm 52, married (25 years) and have three children. 1 son at Vtech and 2 daughters in high school. I also have one huge dog (Newfie) and one large dog (Lab).
I'm the CTO of a technology company the creates custom software for big coporate IT shops and product engineering for large ISV's. My client are through out the US, I travel to meet with them on a regular basis. We also do engineer work in both the US and China, I spend a lot of time tarvelling back and forth to China. I'm writing this note from Suzhou China. I'm on a lot of planes usually about over 300k miles per year, mostly Usair domestically and Asian airlines to Asia. |
The name's Lowender1234. It's a reference to 4-stringed electric bass, which I play a bit. What drew me here was an interest in planes and travel in general even though I don't fly all that much compared to you guys probably. Couple flights a year, tops. I used to be aerophobic, but I conquered it about 3-4 years ago. Good to be here!

Don't worry too much about the lingo; we were all new to the site once and I think you'll find folks are willing to help bring you up to speed. The following may be of help, however: http://www.flyertalk.com/glossary/ |

Hi-I do help desk work for a large company. I joined this site in 2007 so I could read all about the now legendary US mistake fare to ART. Since then, I have taken great advantage of the tips and tricks of the frequent traveler and saved lots of time and money!

Hi all,
I am a long time lurker who just joined. I am 24 (nearly 25) years old, and live in Richfield MN, right under one of the MSP flight paths. I am currently a laborer for a non-profit charitable organization. My dad and his side of the family live in LAX and ORD, so I travel for leisure at least once a year, and am always looking for new trip ideas, especially overseas! Trips planned this year so far are LAX in a few weeks, hopefully MDW this summer (want to try WN and see my Twins play the Cubs!), and TLV later this fall. I have been an airline buff for as long as I can remember. I love to read about the history of the industry and keep up with the current happenings. Two reasons I joined here: To keep my eye out for new services and deals, and I just got tired of the amateurish, backbiting environment of a certain other large forum. |

Welcome. You will find if you are like alot of us you will spend to much time here. More info on FT than most of us could ever absorb, or at least speaking for me anyway. |
Hello everyone!
I have visited flyertalk on and off for the past couple of years and I finally decided to join. I and from Oregon and am currently going to college for computer science. I love to fly too! |
Well I finally found this sort of page... FT is huge and it took an overnight in STL for me to see all these "new" pages.
My information can be found in my profile. I think that I filled it out fairly complete. If you have anything else you need or want to know about me... ask, I am an open book. TK Josh |

I had never heard of this website until today when I heard it mentioned in a report on National Public Radio's Day To Day program. I'm a nonattorney legal rep for Social Security disability claimants appearing at hearings before administrative law judges. I have clients in about a 10 state area in the US midsection. Fly 25-30 x year. Live in Kansas City, MO. Will be flying to Italy (via AA miles, I hope) in October '09.

Welcome, Chris . . . uh . . . GITU.
Try the New Posts function on the menu bar -- it will show you the active threads (of which there are pages and pages). Just look at the topics that interest you. As for OMNI/PR, though you'll find the level of discourse is usually surprisingly high, be prepared for . . . um . . . some "heat." :) |
Wow! It still floors me that a newcomer posts an intro message in OMNI! I just haven't adjusted to the new rules, I guess.
Welcome, Chris! Go to the thousands and thousands long thread called "Who we all are" and make your official intro there. :) |
Moving this to a bit more user-friendly :) forum, CommunityBuzz!
And a belated FT welcome to GITU!! |
Welcome to FT. As for me I pretty much no longer go to Omni & have NEVER been on Omni/PR as I stay away from that.

Hey friends, so I've been bumming around this site, mostly in the UA and CX forums, but haven't really introduced myself to the community at large. I'm currently a college student at Northwestern. I love to fly, but can never seem to find the time/money to do all these mileage runs, so i just have to satisfy myself with slowly accruing BIS miles, with a handy Premier Pass to keep those company.
Frequent Destinations: TPE, HKG, SFO, SJC, ORD |

Travellingswede
Hi all,
Just joined the comunity. Originally swedish, Stockholm, age 43, mostly travelling in Europe and on regualar basis in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Weekly (or daily sometimes) in Sweden, from home to work from Stockholm to south Sweden, around 1 h on a plane one way+ transfer. Business trips mostly around Europe. Likes travelling in style but not to pay for it, haha, heard about that before? Due to personal life (no kids, we are both working a lot) we try to get some "escapes" to cities or places like Berlin, Naples, London, Paris etc. More vacation spots is places where there are good cuisine and lovely weather. ( It is mostly cold in Sweden, lovely summers but awful winters in my opinion). I am a heavy car rental user with about 40 to 50 rentals annualy, with about 150 days in total. Make about 150 single trips by plane and sometimes my life seems to be travelling around with my suitcase on wheels and my best friend is my Blackberry with all my contacts in it. Am I the only swede here? Kind regards Thomas |
