Greetings everyone! I'm n301dp and I've been lurking for a while after hearing and being referred over here by another aviation forum I frequent, FleetBuzz. I'm a university student studying aviation and education...graduating in May but beginning a Master's degree in August. Most of my airline travel has been related to work and participation I've done with CISV, an international youth peace education organization. I'm also a recently converted mileage runner, having done two trips to Europe recently out of Grand Forks. I'm a commercial pilot, and will be finishing up my Certified Flight Instructor certificate soon. If you have any questions about that end of the aviation world, I'm happy to answer them!

Welcome to FT! :D

Updating an old post
Just wanted to welcome all off the new folks to the board.
While some of the below details have changed (just call me dhammer55), ;) and these days, I fly double what's listed below (thank you Flyertalk). ;) @:-) :D This board has been good to me. I've met a lot of nice people over the years (and 1 that wasn't so nice). If any of you new folks want to have a little fun, I'll be posting a thread in the Community forum for the below listed tour. Spending a day with 24 strangers who have one thing in common is a great way to make new friends!

Just adding one more troublemaker to the list.
I'm 47, married with 2 teenagers (help). Just from that statement alone, you know why I like to fly someplace, anyplace, for business. And yes, I do have a sense of humor. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I was born in Brooklyn (wanna make something of it). This should explain a lot. When I was a kid, we lived near the Long Island RR freight lines. I always wondered where they were going. And as a matter of fact, I even took the subway to college everyday. I love travel. So when I started my own business in the 80's, I started flying. Most of my trips are JFK/LA or SFO. I usually fly 25-35,000 miles per year. All on UA. I stumbled onto the old Prodigy travel BB's about 4-5 years ago. It was a relief to find others out in cyberspace that enjoyed travel talk. Even better now. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif And I've even met some of you. And you're all normal!!! Regards, Dan |

Newbie Intro
Hello everyone. My name is Bob, wife is Deb. I am an Environmental and Safety Consultant in the ATL area and travel primarily on DL, but occasionally fly other carriers. I was Platinum on DL from 1993 through 1998, but stopped air travel altogether for a few years due to a company/job change. I am back in a travel position and recently achieved MM status on DL.
I can't believe that I never knew about this website until it was referenced in a news article on Fox News! After browsing many of the forums and reading so many helpful and informative posts, I decided to register. As business generally consumes most of my time, I will likely be more of a reader than poster, but I did want to at least let you all know who I am! Thanks for keeping a forum for those of us who are "on the road" (Deb's term for whenever I am traveling) frequently! Many regards to you all, Bob |
Hello fellow FT'ers
I've procrastinated long enough! I had to check my records to discover I joined FT in Nov06 and it's long past time that I posted something. I live in NW New Jersey with my wonderful husband and a 'rent-a-cat' (she actually belongs to a neighbor but lives with us most of the time). It's a rural area (for New Jersey) and we have regular visits by deer, possum, chipmunks, turkey buzzards and the occasional bear! We are actively pursuing 'Platinum for Life' as our goal for 2008! I've worked in the travel industry for a 'couple of years' (this to justify my age as '29 and some months', working with airlines and a travel agency – all positive experiences. I travel for business & leisure as often as I can (stand)! My goal is to visit all 50 states (39 down 11 to go) and as many countries/continents as I can. I really enjoyed reading the posts about 'who we all are' and have already enjoyed (and used) much of the advice in other forums Looking forward to spending more time with FT colleagues in the future and thanking you all for the great information! mcl11 |
Welcome! And such a restrained poster too :D

Seems to be my turn now.
Alright, I am a german girl called Jana, currently dividing my time between Toulouse, France and Frankfurt, Germany. I became involved at LH at the premature age of 16 as an apprentice (CSA) at their DUS station and becoming a FA at 18. After plying up and down the route network for some years it was time for a change and I was transferred to crew training, currently occupied with developing and assessing procedures for the Airbus side of the fleet (that's why I spend a good part of my time at the Airbus plant in TLS). I do work flights regularly though, usually covering crew shortages or special flights. When (if...) I get some free time I enjoy riding as many rollercoasters as my stomach will allow me, or spontaneously travel somewhere (that's how I maintain my Sen at M&M). Mh, guess that's it then... |
welcome to FlyerTalk, electrique :)
if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact a forum moderator. we're here to assist you. I'd like to welcome you especially as a future participant in the France and Germany forums here on FlyerTalk. it seems, that's where you're based. and if you're near to a FlyerTalk DO location, don't hesitate to come and meet in person. chrissxb, co-moderator, communitybuzz! |

Ok.... so per the latest TalkMail I wrote out my Bio and tried to paste in the "bio" box on my profile and realized that it only allows you like a sentence ... I didn't want to waste what I wrote so here it is.....
I have worked in the airline industry since I was 19 (yep… over 14 years now). I started as a CSR at the SFO airport with America West. I worked for a while in SEA and SJC (worked the CO contract in both) as well. After about 4 years I went to Las Vegas to start up National Airlines. Now that was an experience. I learned a lot (I was the 92nd employee) and was working there until the end. I worked at the airport and then moved into corporate. It was in Las Vegas that I discovered FT (thanks chanelcinq) and I did a few “do’s” in SAN and ORD. Don’t know if anyone remembers but I was the one who got those N7 lounge passes that were raffled off at a couple of parties. I got so caught up in FT that I did a few mileage runs even though I could fly for next to nothing. It gave me enough miles to get to Rio for Carnival and I had Gold status on CO for a bit. After N7 closed its doors I went to work for Hawaiian (corporate) in HNL. That was not only a huge change in living but also working. I loved HA and Hawaii but after about 3 years I got island fever. It was also about this time that I met my partner in Sydney (I met him while I was helping HA open the SYD station). Mid 2006 we took leaves from our work and traveled for about 4 months through Southeast Asia. I quit my job with HA and we ended up settling in Hong Kong (he was born there). After a year in HK we were over it, especially his work since he was working in a company that was very much “Chinese way” of over working/under appreciative. We have now been in Sydney since November of 2007 and I’m working on getting an Australian Visa so I can work here….Hopefully I can get my wings back… Maybe V Australia, Qantas, or hey… back to the HA ohana!:) |
Belated welcome WinginIt and way to go! No restrictions in your life. ^

Hi All,
I'm old enough to not particularly want to be reminded how old I am. I've been working in IT for over half my life now and have spent the last 15 years in jobs which required some degree of travelling, though most of it has been intra-Europe. I got curious about how people accumulate points/miles/etc. and what people do with them and found this web-site when researching that. Now I'm hooked. Hi everyone! My name is David and I'm an FT'er. /dnastudios |
Welcome to the group of addicts! :D

So I'm finally venturing into other areas, after being here for a month or so...
My name is Alina. I live in the most extreme SW corner of Washington state (so far down that sometimes, I think that we're part of Oregon). I work in social services, currently with children that have been removed from their homes for reasons of abuse, neglect, safety concerns or criminal activity on the parents' part (gotta love the folks who pick drugs over their kids *eyeroll*). That may change, though, as I'm currently seeking other jobs within the Social Services realm, preferably in the Juvenile Justice/Corrections arena. As my user name suggests, I am proud to bleed the Crimson and Gray of Washington State University. I graduated from the Vancouver campus in Dec. of 2005, even though technically, I was through on Aug. 13, 2005 (yes, I remember the date because it's my neice's birthday). Oh yeah, speaking of the munchkin, my neice is cuter than your neice. :p (But don't all Aunts and Uncles think that??? :D) I travel mainly for leisure, but definitely not enough. So far, I've flown through every airport listed on the computer version of "Monopoly: Here and Now" (ORD, ATL, JFK and LAX). I usually travel to NASCAR races, but the thought of being able to get on one of two non-stop flights to Europe out of PDX and/or the non-stops to Europe out of SEA (which is a 25-35 min. AS/QX flight for me) is REALLY tempting. :D ...not that I've rambled, I must sleep, as I work graveyard and have to go back tonight. :td: |
Kudos to all ...I started last year just visiting the CX site ...recently, I started exploring the other forums ...I am hooked, visiting this site every day. :p Learn lots and hope to be able to contribute more as well.
