I'm a VP with a major media company and cover the whole US. On the road almost every week...all domestic. Based in Denver, but division office in NYC and company office in Texas. Fly UA about 95% of time, remaining 5% on F9, DL and CO if I need to connect out of ATL or IAH. 1P on UA, on track to be 1K by October. CO gold-matched. Born and raised in Chicago, wife is formerly accountant (and former 1P) who is stay at home mom to 3 year old daughter.
Love FT and have learned alot, and have even saved some $$ on airline tix and car rentals with secret codes. |
Me: Consultant for one of world's largest IT companies. I generally provide services to government agencies but recently I have done some work in the municipal and commercial sectors.
Born in Los Angeles and have lived in west TX, southern NM, Kunsan, South Korea, Suwon, South Korea, and recently Denver, CO. I was an AA flyer until I relocated and switched to F9 and UA. I mostly fly United now. Other than that I have some really cool and somewhat useless talents that include hundreds of skydives from a vast array of aircraft covering everything from Cessna 182s to a Carvair ATL-98 (the plane they loaded Goldfinger's car into in the classic James Bond movie). ;) I'm also a die-hard motorcyclist (of the sporting variety). |
Hi there, everybody -
like so many here I joined after reading the extraordinary thread by Dovster and BEYFlyer. My initials stand - boringly - for my name: Vivian Grace Evans. But as I'm using that handle on other forums I don't want to change it, its difficult enough to remember all those PINs and passwords  ! Because: I'm retired now, and do like harping on about it, as well as taking all the advantages which come with it (the disadvantages no-one talks about, and they do come anyway ...) ! I live in Cardiff, Capital of Wales, youngest European Capital (only 51 years old!), buzzing, modern and ancient in one go. I'm happy to bend anyone's ear about this wonderful city because I moved to Wales 25years ago when I married my own Welshman. I love travelling, I love flying - my most cherished memory is a flight on Concorde before she retired. But: There are my two elderly dogs (Border Collies)! They cannot go into kennels, and as I'm a widow since last year travelling is out of the question just now. So, I love my dogs, I love getting my hands dirty in my garden (small!), and I am an absolute fan of rugby: once watched, forever hooked ...! My other sporty addiction is swimming. Hopefully, this is sufficient info for you all to identify me, and hopefully I haven't bored you all to tears! Anyone who wants to know more: drop us a PN! Best wishes, V.G.E. |

I just joined the forum yesterday (August 5 2006), so I guess I'll tell you a little about myself-
My name is Mike and I work for an ambulance service as an EMT, on the job for 21 years. Born and raised in Los Angeles (still live in the house I grew up in). In my spare time I like to spend time with friends, usually at car club outings or shows, or spend time with my three dogs. |

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie here ... I've been reading through some of the self-introductions ... quite amazing. I really like reading people's experiences on "my" airline. My name is Christopher. I am 26, living in RI, commuting to BOS. I work for a major European airline ... I'll let you discover which airline. Discretion is my motto. I like commercial aviation, photography of commerical airliners, good eats (going to good restaurants), and above all Francophone culture. Fortunately my job does have its perks. I have been able to travel all over Europe (above all France), to Mexico (Mexico City), Argentina (Buenos Aires), and Morocco (Fez, Rabat) and will soon add Korea and New Caledonia to the list. In addition to getting to know airline products a little more, I have gotten to know the hotel industry. My best friend is a mystery client for the Sofitel Hotel chain. I love their "MyBeds" :D . His experiences have opened my eyes to what really is good and what is not good, making me even more picky ! I look forward to discovering as many luxury hotels as the budget can afford ! Looking forward to reading all of your contributions. Write away ! |
Welcome to FlyerTalk, airchristophe :) ^
We're looking forward to your contributions as well ;) |
My name is Mia, originally from San Francisco and currently based in shanghai china for a time being for work.
I discovered FT a while ago and been hooked ever since. I think its one of the best web sites on the internet. I love sharing travelling secrets and finding other like-minded people just makes me feel so "normal" :D I have learned so much from it from re-routing to mileage runs. Just several months ago, I have expereienced the Cathay Pacific First class lounge in Hong Kong airport for the first time. (Any first class lounge for that matter) I usually just flight direct but decided to detoure through HK on a business class and what an experience that was, thanks to FT. Anyways, I will be keeping my eyes out for anything unusual and keep you people up to date. |
Hi!
I'm also quite new here and am quite glad that I found FT as it is extremely interesting, so I read here almost every day :) I live in a (from an American's point of view :p) small town in Germany. My "home-airport" is Munich. I am studying English and Geography (educational business) at a university. Having studied business administration before, I also lived in HEL for 4 months (internship). In my spare time I read a lot and create websites etc. I really adore travelling (must be the genes :D), but cannot travel as much as I would like to (limited time & money). Which doesn't prevent me from planning (also for others) and I'm also quite good at "optimizing costs" of all kind (ok, sometimes I'm a bit stingy :p) :D :D Usually I travel together with my family for leisure, but 1-2 times per year also alone as my partner lives in Northern Europe. FT has been really helpful and interesting for me so far and it is really nice to be here! ^ |
somuchtosee & Amaran, welcome to FlyerTalk.

A New Beginning
Granted, I have been passenger to many a CRJ.... 300's and 700's *makes a face* Along with my fair share of 777's *yay* and the lesser planes, but it's all starting over for me. I now have a boyfriend who enjoy's the air as much as I do and I think it will be something good for me. I hate flying alone, and now I don't have to. It's nice to know that someone is impressed by the fact that I can identify planes without having to look at the safety packet, which sometimes happens to be labeled for a different plane than one could currently be on.
I am not here to rave about my new found companion, I actually want to know a little more than what I think I may know. I offer a humble request to all that read this.... Useless knowledge.... fill me up with useless flight knowledge, either about planes, their habitants, or airports. Hit me folks... I am always eager. |
I just found this thread - great idea. I have posted here on and off for a few years.

I am fairly new here too. I lurked for a couple of months before joining. :o
My name is Valerie, I live in sunny San Diego, and my DH and I love to travel. He thinks I am the master of earning and getting FF miles. :D This board has been extremely helpful for me in that respect. I love taking miles to upgrade to FC. Let's see what else: Career: Corporate Interior Designer Age: 32 (going on 29 ;) ) Travel: The last couple of years have been slow travel ones for us, but we hope to change that soon. :D Last trip i took was to Savannah, GA last weekend on US Air. Previous to that Tennessee to visit family on Delta (I usually fly that trip 1-2 times a year, but don;t really consider that a vacation) And previous to that - NYC last October. (We used to live in NYC) Last time I went international was in 2002 to London. Yikes, it has been too long! I guess if you consider Mexico international, we did take a cruise to Cabo in 2003. :p So, I am looking forward to learning more and meeting other like-minded travel people on this board. |

I guess this is the best place to start.
I am an Implementation Consultant for a healthcare software company. I just recently moved into this position from a software support position, so business travel is relatively new to me. But so far I really enjoy travelling and enjoy working with clients face-to-face. I mostly fly out of Springfield, MO (SGF). I do not have a territory that I fly to most often, due to the fact that we have clients in all 50 states. |
OK, after being a member for almost a year, I finally figured out where this thread lives... LOL. I guess I didn't get the FlyerTalker Map in the mail with my welcome kit... ;)
Xinerevelle comes from my first and middle names: Christine Revelle. Friends started calling me "xine" in email about 12 years ago, similar to calling Christmas "xmas"... Revelle is a family name. I'm married to a former frequent flyer who has been extremely jealous that my jobs over the past few years have included travel. His position (paper mill superintendent) is pretty place-bound. We are expecting our first little traveler just after Thanksgiving. Therefore, my traveling has been reduced to the round-trip to the grocery store and the gas station lately. I am currently working from home doing some consulting work so that I can stay home with the baby. Not a lot of travel on the horizon for me, except for visits to family. :( In my professional life I've held a variety of related positions, most surrounding some form of marketing, proposal generation, and training. I'm a certified trainer for DDI and AchieveGlobal management products. These days I am doing some subcontracting work for a company that does Visioning for communities and other organizations. I've been an American Cancer Society volunteer for about 5 years, sitting on my local unit board of directors and chairing the income development and patient services committees as well. I just finished a state-wide leadership program for ACS. Additionally, I was the president of my local Junior Achievement board for 2 years and am still a JA classroom volunteer, too. My undergrad Economics degree is from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and my graduate degree in Corporate Communication is from Florida State University. I grew up in Grand Rapids (GRR), Michigan, went to college in Cleveland (CLE), then lived in Columbia, Maryland for 7 years (BWI or DCA), before moving to Panama City Beach (PFN), Florida about 8 years ago. Mr. Xine and I use our hotel points mainly for trips to Spring Training in central Florida each spring. He's a big Cleveland Indians fan, so we spend a long weekend in the Orlando/Tampa area watching as many games as we can while settling into the free Hampton Inns at night. Maybe now that I'm switching from a Skymiles Amex to a HHonors Amex for next year maybe we'll be able to splurge on Hiltons instead of Hampton Inns. :) Oh, and I love this place! FT has given me the power and the confidence to stand up and demand what is coming to me when I get bumped, or to figure out how to squeeze the most out of my lowly Delta Silver status (or to even know to call it FO status when on the Delta thread...). And who could forget all those bonuses I got from the Priority Club board??? Again, thanks for all of the help, everyone! |

This Is Me
User Name: elll (my name's ella)
I live in Houston, work for financial management consultant, travel for pleasure rather than business. I love to explore areas I've previously not been, but I'm also addicted to NYC theater (been to NYC 2x this year). I'm single, fifty-something and have worked the past few years on getting my nieces and nephews infected with the travel bug - and teaching them the "right" way to be a traveler (respectful, good manners, etc.) I really enjoy reading all of the threads and have learned quite a bit. Hopefully, there will be a point at which I can contribute something positive. |
Hello, FlyerTalk
Hello to everyone on this thread.
I'm a technical consultant. I spent a lot of time on conference calls, WebEx, and e-mail. And for three to six days a month, I'll travel to some client. I was born in the Philippines, but was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. I am your garden-variety geek, with my early technology being the Vic 20 and the Commodore 64. I am now married with one daughter, living in Arlington, Massachusetts. Peace! |
New guy here.
Was born in central Illinois and lived there until graduating from college (SIU). Then lived in Chicago, NYC, Berlin, Germany, Los Angeles and now a full-time, happy resident of Las Vegas. Mostly, I have been, and currently am, a teacher. However, I have worked a lot in the legal field and worked for a major film studio in LA for several years. I like to write, like movies, and love to travel - when I lived in Europe, I pretty much hit every country in Western and Eastern Europe. One teensy-tiny problem is that I really hate flying - that said, I still do fly, and if anyone is offering, feel free to send me airline tickets. I just don't enjoy getting on planes and am one of those nervous fliers, especially during take off and landing. However, my logic always wins out and I get on planes and go whenever the opportunity arises. The nice thing about living in Las Vegas is that you seldom have to twist anyone's arm to get them to come and visit. I have seen relatives I hadn't seen in 45 years (no joke) and almost every German I know has flown here to visit. That is how my website came to be - I simply got tired of answering the same questions over and over, so figured I would write up my opinions about everything people have asked me about Las Vegas and throw them out there for the world to see. |

Hi folks
Page 72? no one is going to read this ;-) Geoff checking in from Newport, Rhode Island. I was born in Stevenage, England - the family house eight miles from the end of Runway 26 at Luton Airport. My handle PINKTRISTAR honours Court Line Aviation's L1011 G-BAAB which was an almost daily sight over the house in the early 1970s. The other Court Tristar was G-BAAA - but ORANGETRISTAR was just too long to contemplate! Moved Stateside in the early 1990s, (love will make you do strange things!), and finally settled in Rhode Island. My lovely English accent can be heard on 99.3 WJZS-FM (jazz and blues) www.993wjzs.com over the weekend. During the week, I am the morning producer for the folks who report the traffic news on Providence area radioand TV stations. Away from broadcasting I operate a courier/messenger service. Now I wish I could score mileage for PDQ/VIP/express cargo on the airlines, although Northwest kindly gave me an upgrade to first out of PVD last month for the business!! Oh - I am one of those British plane spotters! I travel to see new planes! And photograph them too! Its just frustrating that some people think pointing a camera at a plane makes me a criminal!! http://photosbygeoff.fotopic.net Nice to meet you all! Geoff |
Hi! Nice to meet you all!
I am an academic with a rather well known university here in the US (hint : it's in New Haven). Found out about FT about a year ago, and now I wouldn't do anything on travel stuff until I have consulted/searched/read obsessively the threads here on FT! Eugene |

Finally got around to getting over here and posting...
User name dbmaury, which makes sense since my name is D. Blair Maury. Parents cursed me with a female name, but am very male. I played college football and was an offensive tackle, so I am what they refer to as large. Age: 35 Location: I am seemingly stuck right now outside of Norfolk, VA. I used to commute between here and Austin, TX but I never get back there anymore. The current Mrs. Maury lives here (as does a former Mrs. Maury) so I suppose the roots will stay here a while. Children: I have two sons (12 &5) from a former marriage who split time between me and their mother and I have a 6 month old daughter with my current wife. Born: Richmond, VA I studied in Paris as an undergrad and still speak passable French. My wife was a Russian major, so we can't get jobs in 2 languages. Occupation: I have been in government sales for technology companies but am toying with the idea of breaking off and starting my own company. Interesting fact: My wife is about to make Silver Medallion on DL next week even though we have never paid for her to take a flight. I fly her all over on my bump vouchers. Interesting fact II: I put my first wife through school at William & Mary when we first got married and current wife went back and finished her undergrad degree (at 35) at UVA when we first married. I joke that if this marriage goes south, I am finding a woman who didn't finish at Virginia Tech and completing the cycle. I am officially a FT addict. |

Hi all.
I am new to flyertalk but have been lurking about 6 months. Hey! Figured I might as well put something down about myself!
I'm Kris from Belfast (shock! :) ). I've been watching this site for about 2 years and even though I only recently joined I'm still trying to find my feet so to speak. I work for a major UK bank for roughly the last 6 years and have recently returned from a 3 month break to Australia (well, ended up being oz with trips to Christchurch, NZ and San Francisco, USA). My fav airline so far is UA, my flight from SYD to SFO was impressive compared to the shabby flight i had with VA LHR-SYD-LHR and the FA's made it interesting! In my spare time I plan travelling, I'm a big movie buff and take an interest in politics (not local). Any Q's you know where to get me! |
Name: You can call me K, for now!
Location: Los Angeles Age: Just turned 26!! Profession: Operations Management, part-time translator for the entertainment industry Education: B.A. in Japanese Language Currently seeking: A new job that pays me much more $$$! LOL If anyone wants a person to settle Japanese business partnerships, I'm your man. I can speak the language fluently, and since I'm single, I am available to fly anytime, anywhere on a moments notice. |
Been here for a while, but never formally introduced myself to FT. Not sure who keeps track of these, but whatever.
I am a graduate student at Kansas, currently working on two MA degrees: Japanese Language & Literature, and Russian & Eastern European Studies. I am fluent in Japanese, and I'm struggling to attain that same level in Russian, but I find that language extremely difficult. I will be taking the GMAT later this month, since I will likely be pursuing an MBA as well. So when all is said and done I hope to have 3 Masters degrees and a decent job. :) I find myself surprisingly productive on flights, and I look forward to flying longhaul so I could get research done without distractions. I suppose my crowning achievement during a flight was writing an opinion essay on the territorial dispute between Russia and Japan (the southern Kurile islands); I submitted it for a competition and won the award for 2006. I wrote that essay during an MR earlier this year, and I suspect the bulk of my MA thesis will be written from my laptop at 35000 feet. Other than reading FT, my hobbies include scuba diving, exercise/powerlifting, video games, and watching too much TV. And procrastinating (I'm a student, after all ;)). And of course traveling. If I were to choose a favorite destination so far, it would probably be Argentina. Buenos Aires is a stunning city, and I did a trip through Patagonia last year, and the region was absolutely beautiful. Places I'm dying to visit right now include Mongolia, Lake Baikal, Australia, and Sakhalin Island. |
About myself
Jay here....
Have been a lurker at flyertalk.com for a while but havent really actively posted. I am a management consultant for a major consulting company flying almost every week. I am 28, married, born and brought up in India. I came to the US 4 yrs ago for my MBA and stayed on. Have vacationed in almost every famous part of india - from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. I used to enjoy traveling every week for work but i recently got married and travel suddenly has started to suck. I cant imagine how much worse it gets once you have kids. Anyway this will be the first year i will hit Exec Plat on American on segments (goes to show that i fly too much). Will start traveling to Kansas City or Atlanta location in the new year but no travel planned for work this year :-). I plan to go back to India next year on vacation and maybe to Europe on a second honeymoon. Jay |
Hi everyone.
I've been reading FT for sometime, however, just joined recently on the advice of my brother who reads it all the time. My user name is mingdrille which is a combination of our two favorite restaurants, Woo Loon Ming and Cafe Escadrille. Born in Massachusetts and still here. Until recently I worked as a meeting planner at a large well known computer company. I hope to work part time now as a meeting planner through a contractor. I flew quite a bit on my job and hope to do more of it. I had the pleasure of visiting some great places (Scotland, Ireland, Amsterdam, Spain, Austria, Greece, France) and staying at 5 star hotels. I will certainly miss that part of the job. Nice to meet all of you. |
