Andrew :)

I'm a big fan of MotoGP!

I'm going to California next month to do an SRT track experience at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, CA... and then as soon as Laguna Seca is announced for 2009 I'll be back for that too.

Sounds like you have a really cool job!

Long time lurker, first time poster

I'm Kevin, currently in Chicago.

I recently found myself with time to spare, so I'm researching a winter OneWorld RTW trip, and found FlyerTalk to be the best resource, bar none, for that.

I usually only do one truly international (beyond Canada/Mexico) trip a year, plus sporadic work travel and lots of short vacations. Being based in Chicago is convenient for getting anywhere in the states, but the central location makes it that much more difficult to leave the continent for shorter trips.

FXWizard Oct 15, 2008 11:34 am

I'm Brian, and I live in Port Moody (outside of Vancouver), BC.

I don't travel a lot but when I do it's usually related to pyrotechnics or special FX - and before you ask the answer is no, I don't transport the stuff with me. Hell, I don't even wear any "themed" clothing when I fly.

My next (planned) trip is next February to Lake Havasu City by way of Vegas for a fireworks convention. I registered here because I've been reading the forums for some time and find them very useful and entertaining; I hope to be able to offer constructive input from time to time.

Hi, I'm Shane and I am FXWizard's Friend

I too do fireworks. (with Brian). :)

Hi Brian and welcome.

I've been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now, getting some ideas for a few upcoming trips and I figured this was a good enough reason for my first post. I'm a HUGE MotoGP fan, and a novice club racer here in Edmonton, Canada. Andrew, I bookmarked the blog and will definitely give it a read later. Some awesome pictures from my first, cursory glance. To say I'm jealous of your career is an understatement.

Cheers,
Rob

A little about myself - first post

Now that I've been lurking on this board - and learning a lot - for the past year, I keep seeing the message to “Tell us a little about yourself in the Community forum." So, here goes.
I joined last year (10-07) in anticipation of a trip to Bangkok on Singapore Airlines. After reading, I opted to do the non-stop from EWR to SIN. Executive Economy was everything I hoped for. (I paid for this flight!) Stayed a few days in SIN, then, onto BKK on Singapore Airlines. Without a doubt - the best flights I have ever had. I still remember the gentle way the hostess would "present" a beverage to me.
Sadly, the executive economy NS from EWR is now history.

Coming up - IAD to TLV on a mileage plus award ticket from UA. And, yes - I am reading the UA and LH and Swiss forums faithfully. (I still don't have all the abbreviations down.)

Hi everybody.
I am in the SF Bay Area. I travel a lot for work and play--Asia, Africa, Europe and North America mostly. I speak several Asian and European languages. I don't particulary enjoy hanging out in airports or being on airplanes though, so if I travel, my employer sends me; or I prefer travelling at minimal cost--like frequent flyer award travel.
My favorite travel involves being outdoors hiking, backpacking, backcountry skiing, SCUBA, etc. I try to avoid cities when possible, except in transit.

Hi all! New member here, making my inaugural post.

My name's Dan, and I recently started a new civilian career after finishing 20 years in the US Military. With the new career comes new travel!

I live in Las Vegas and fly about once a month to the DC area. Based on the LAS-IAD nonstop flights on United, they've become my airline of choice, and I just earned Premier level for this year... first time at any status level in a frequent flyer program for me, so I'm scouring the internet for tips and tricks... which led me here. Looking forward to learning a lot from you guys.

Off to post in the United MP section for more specific questions. :)

Hey All,

I am 23 years old, with a Bcomm and am a CFA candidate. Working for one of the big consulting firms. Started 2 months ago and will be making platinum in 2 more weeks at SPG, as well as Elite on AC. Travel a lot, but dont mind it at my age!

I've been a consultant to the housing industry for the last 20 years, so lotsa travel up till this year. So now that I've not made my gold elite for the first time in 20 years, I'm all ears about how to take advantage of the best airlines have to offer.

I'll plug Continental somewhat. They've maintained a good attitude and actually granted me elite status for one more year.

Hi everyone!

I'm Craig from Bay City, Michigan. I'm a 35 year old (for one more day) high school history teacher. I get to travel quite a bit with my job by applying for a variety of free programs available to teachers through such organizations at the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Gilder-Lehrman Institute, National Council on Economics Education (which sent me to Romania for a week's study tour) and the Rotary Club (which sent me to Sydney, Australia for a month's study tour).

In addition, my partner and I travel whenever we get the chance. During my spring vacations over the past few years we've been to Bavaria twice, western Hungary, and France. This coming spring break we've traded in Delta Miles to fly to Vienna. In the summer we generally travel to Québec, although by car.

When we fly, we generally fly either Delta or Northwest. (Of course, NW will soon be no more.) Luckily we have the option of three airports within driving distance: MBS, FNT and DTW. I've been reading the posts here for a couple of years, but have never gotten around to posting. I'm looking forward to getting more involved. :)

Hi Andrew - we are fellow race-travelers (although I travel for the 4-wheel guys). My husband worked for AMA Flat Track for a couple of years, and I knew several people who worked for the SuperBike group. Great guys. Hope everything works out for them with the new owners.

us airways c/c

I am frequent traveler to West coast cities, use us airways...and they are very good to me as i am loyal to them as Chairman. Yesterday i was denied using my us airways c/c because of a $7.50 purchase i made @ Skyharbor airport last Wed. I could not buy anything with that card. When i phoned they told me that i need to PHONE them if i leave my state again & plan to use that c/c or I will be denied. HAH-a c/card with an airplane on it...anyone ever heard of that new security procedure-My limit is over $12,000.00 & i owe only $500.00 on flights...i guess it is time for a new c/card:mad:

Middle East Mamma

I have been working and traveling around the Middle East, primarily the UAE and Oman for the past six months and am about to jump over to India for a few weeks. Have no idea where I will go from there although the company has bought me a one way ticket back to the states. How do I cash this in as it was purchased using their credit card?
