Hi All
Just joined the great community. Thanks to all for interesting and valuable information.
I'm a researcher in some engineering field (not aerospace, sorry!), moved from Japan last fall. Been a M&M FTL for almost 10 years by traveling to 3-4 conferences each year (mostly North America, some Asia, less Europe). Turned to SEN last year thanks to the job change (interviews, househunting, relocation) and also thanks to my new position that allows me to travel in C :) My goal this year is to requalify for SEN to remain *G for another 2 years and look into other programs as I'll be flying on US airlines more. Best, MtRoot |
Hi everyone,
I am a short chubby balding bloke living in Aberdeen, Scotland in my mid thirties. I came across Flyertalk by chance, but I look forward to posting here. |
Said a quick Hi in the thread a while back when I first joined and am now ready to expand.
I work in Hospitality IT based out of Sydney, Australia. The region we cover is Australasia which covers all of Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific Islands, French Polynesia, PNG, Guam and all destination in between. In 2.5 years with my current company I have taken over 300 individual flights totalling over 700 flying hours. I really love the travel! Pretty much fly exclusively OneWorld airlines as a company policy so the miles rack up quite well. Always interested to chat with other .au FT'ers. Cheers, vec. |
hello FT!
Just wanted to say a quick hello to the FlyerTalkers of the world. My name is Brett (my FT username comes from the Japanese name for a Boeing 777) and I live in Brooklyn, NY.
I've always loved to travel, but took my first mileage run in November and fell in love with the concept. Haven't had much time or money to travel recently, but have been enjoying watching other people's progress on FT and living vicariously through them! |
Hi FTers,
i just discover this Community recently and found it very focused and interesting. I hope i can contribute as well from now on with some relevant information. I'm an Italian based fashion industry manager. Being in charge for export, my job (and my leasure plans as well) push me to fly about 100.000 miles x year. Countries i visit more frequently are USA/Hong Kong and China/Middle East and Europe, usually two three times a year each in different locations. That's for now...see you around in the forum, and maybe sometimes in the future somewhere around in the real world. Best, The_Daddy |
New to Group
Hi I am Vantzy.
I am living in Paris and travel quite a bit but now it is slowing down. I love Vegas and thinking about Hawaii this summer. Any tips of Maui or where to go there would be appreciated. I can help out with info re European Cities and Hotels. Cheers |
Fjord here. I am based in Cincinnati and have been plagued with no traveling for five years because of college. While in High School I was privileged with a parent in Delta Airlines that gave me unlimited free travel around the globe for a bout two years. I currently work as a software developer and starting to travel extensively thanks to FT. I'm still looking for the job that will put me to travel and hopefully find it one day. With that said, I am happy to join a good community. Cheers!

Hi
Been a passive reader of FT for the past year now with a post here and there. I used to do a lot of international business travel up till 2003 but change of jobs has thwarted the fun days.
2008 and 2009 has shown a little promise in terms of business travel but it was all domestic US travel. I love aviation photography and go crazy taking pictures whenever I am flying. Name: Omkar Tambalkar Location: Sunny San Diego, CA USA Profession: Computer Network Engineer Age: 32 When the economy gets better, I am gonna switch to a consulting job that involves lot of travel....single and travelling.....sweet!! Cheers!! |
New guy, here.
My basic stats:
Live and work primarily in LA, fly to MCO every two weeks to spend time with my son. My elderly mom is also there, so I hang out with her, check to make sure she's cool, we stay with her to give her some activity, then I'm out either early, wheels up by 7am, or preferably in the afternoon, usually on DL 1430, home by 10:30-11pm. So basically, I get to see my wife 26 weeks out of the year. He graduates in three years, man. Then he can truck his butt out here to UCLA, by God. (Crossing fingers.) Speaking of my wife; yes, she is as a matter of fact, a saint. Delta man. Platinum. Used to Love United, but, you know... That's about it. Nice to meet you guys. Probably know some of you. James |
An Introduction
Hi, I've just joined Flyer Talk today and thought I should introduce myself. I found the site through a consumer site that linked to the Virgin Flying Club Forum. Having had a look around the site I was really impressed with the number of different topics covered so thought I’d join.
I’m 48, single and living & working in the South of England. Unfortunately there is very little opportunity for business travel at the present time but I do a fair amount of leisure travel both within the UK and overseas. I’m always on the lookout for good deals and like to collect loyalty points where I can so I think this site is going to be really useful. I’ve built up points in a few hotel and airline loyalty programmes and with the current financial situation and the weakness of Sterling I think I’m going to need to use some in 2009. I’ve already had a couple of free hotel nights this year and have enough BMI Miles to get me a couple of European flights. I’ve also managed to build up 115, 000 Virgin Flying Club Miles which, if I decide to blow them all on a bit of luxury, will get me an Upper Class trip to my favourite destination Las Vegas. See you all around the forums. Cheers Clive |
He's back......

Hi all, I'm Scott here in SAN (but still find myself missing EAU). I'm a government flier so I don't always have the luxury of picking and
choosing my carrier. I manage to stay gold on AA, silver on NW and Marriott. That's mostly from conference and training travel. I keep my miles with one of the major alliances. The TPAC miles to NRT or GUM really help. I usually don't get too uppity about lack of upgrades since quite frequently the last leg of my trip will be in a C-2A or one of the H-60's I'm going to fix. The accomodations at the end are more than likely to be a rack aboard ship. I'm an A&P mechanic and FCC GROL so its sometimes a little hard to tune out the aircraft when I am travelling. I'm really enjoying all the tidbits I pick up here on Flyertalk since with the combined audience, everyone here does know everything. ;) |

Going home to Ireland for a month
Hello, I'm from Ireland, lived in England and Spain, been living in Orlando FL for 17 years.
My husband was in the US Navy for 22 years, so we've flown Space A a few times. My favourite flight ever was on board a Galaxy C-5 from Mildenhall UK to Charleston SC. I've flown most of the Airlines crossing the Pond, and on Friday evening I leave on British Airways from MCO to LGW. Will be met by my son and grandson Thomas Patrick, who is 23 months. Then I'll be going to Ireland for a few days on Ryanair, which is always an adventure! I have been to all States that had a disaster in recent years, as I am contracted to FEMA as a damage inspector. I drove to Louisiana and Texas after their 2008 hurricanes. |
i thought you were predatory beasts
hello there, i work in air operations for a large agency and i came to know FlyerTalk through a very unpleasant experience with a certain persnickety Aamerican carrier. i was alerted with great fanfare the users of FT were so cool, smart enough to figure out pricing the same airfare on another website was going to use a different plating carrier - which would get them a cheaper price. Even better, the FT peeps were so awesome they even knew that price difference was YQ taxes -- the dreaded fuel surcharge (that is by no means a tax under any law). After an awful fright of a debit memo, an Office 2007 upgrade so my Excel spreadsheet could have more than 65,000 rows, etc., I was able to remember you guys were cool in your own way. I decided not to hate you at all.
in fact, i really have to love you for the YQ thing - admire, even. fuel surcharges are not taxes; you don't get to just declare a tax and pocket it. they need to raise the price of the base fare if they need some gas money. but i feel weird reading different posts encouraging people to go out and take advantage of a poor fare filer's mistake not typing enough zeros. in this day and age i do. 10 years ago i felt quite differently, i'm sure. but today's industry is so sad and hurting. it holds together by weirdos who just love this complex, bizarre world of ancient technologies and 35 categories of fare rules for whatever strange reason keeps us employed for less and less money every year. so, that's who i am. and you know the airlines read all your posts. i do sometimes, when i'm worried about something. and this means we all have a good relationship, right? you help us find our mistakes so, in your own way, you might just deserve the prize of that fantabulous deal too-good-to-be-true gone in a few hours. and keep rocking those fuel surcharges!! there are plenty of ways to work around; y'all seem smart enough. in fact, if you find yourself in a mood, send a little note to the DOT and let 'em how you feel about the effect fuel surcharges bundled into a YQ "tax" could have on airfare disclosure regulation. (blame the europeans, they started it) while it makes sense you can buy different air fares at different prices on many websites (including the mistakes), surely you deserve to get the same air fare at the same price point wherever it is found (including the mistakes)? thought about it that way? like there are rights. |
Really am a guest - Honest
I have always wondered what parents go through when choosing the name of their first born - well mine really hit the jackpot -
A - then to have the surname of Guest - what can i say.... Also - I have also worked into the hotel industry - being duty manager was always interesting - yawn Anyway these days - I spend quite a few night a week in hotels - mostly at Holiday inn - I must really thank the forum for supplying really good info and threads - I wondered if anyone has some feedback on taking up the Priority club Rewards visa credit card and found that the points offered after activation - never actually arrive - and when you ring Priority visa or Priority club ...well you wish you had never bothered..... |
Born and raised in sunny California, I have been all over the world but never quite knew how to do it in style before discovering FlyerTalk. It was instrumental in helping me fly in First Class on the same flight my nemesis was traveling in economy. Ho, ho, ho, that felt good! However, I did contribute a few things like the $106 PHX-CDG fare off of Expedia a few years ago.
Last year, I took my dream trip all in business class through Germany, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Poland, and Holland on six different airlines. This year, I am going to Korea, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan on five different airlines. All that would not have been possible without FlyerTalk. I’ve had new pages put in my passport twice, and have been to London more than 60 times, but I have never taken a subway or a taxi in London. I’ve never been to downtown San Francisco either. All of my travel is now leisure since I have been laid off from my job as a proposal manager and am sitting on over 500,000 miles trying to decide where to go next year. Lately, I've taken interest in videotaping my travels and I have several videos in YouTube, one comparing United and Lufthansa in First Class and another from a trip through the Middle East. These videos are in http://www.youtube.com/wiggums1 and I regularly post in my blog in http://rtwb.spaces.live.com. |
Hi there!
I'm from Mexico City currently living in Monterrey (México).
I discovered FlyerTalk about a month ago and today I just decided to join the community. =) Ragde |
I travel mostly in the PAC NW and have loved seeing the posts and recomendations. I live in Portland, work for an insurance company in claims and have offices throughout the NW in PDX, HNL, SEA, ANC and BOI . Sometimes I go to MT too.
Now I just need to start traveling for fun, 190,000 miles later, need to do something with them..... |
Hi there!
I'm originally from Amsterdam, Netherlands, but currently studying in Boca Raton, FL. Thanks to my parents I have so called travelitus, and take every opportunity to travel somewhere new. To date I have seen pretty much all of Europe, A lot in Asia, and have yet to discover Africa and South America (this year's goal). Unfortunately I never realized the huge benefits of miles until recently, but now dedicated to getting my free upgrades Currently holding 23000EQM on UA and 14000EQM on KLM, so I hope to reach some silver soon! I discovered flyertalk a couple of days ago, and am really enjoying all the tips & tricks on how to reach some more miles. So thanks guys! Enjoy the flying! Citrus |
Hello All
Currently in Miami, FL but originally from the Northeast; Connecticut to be precise. I've been lurking on FT for a while now and joined last month. I mostly hang around the British Airways forum.
I've been flying alone since I was about 11, flying back and forth between parents for the holidays so I love flying. I love flying but I also have a fear of flying if that makes sense. I get anxiety and panic attacks the last few days before a trip but once I'm on board and in the air it's all over and I feel fine. I've flown AA all of my life, except for one segment last year CDG-LHR-FCO where I flew BA and fell in love. I've done a lot of domestic flying but my first TATL was last year. I no longer fly for work so now most of my flying is for pleasure: MIA-SEA, MIA-LAX to see friends MIA-JFK to see family. I am new to FF programs and I've got lots of questions that I am sure can be answered by the FT experts. I have learned a lot by lurking but now I hope to become a very active member of FT. Bella |
I'm young (in High School), I love to fly, and I think FT is just a bunch of old people... ;)
and I'm currently doing homework  |
hello. my real name is carmel. now is going to be real funny. now i work for amtrak out of ny but i been flying (I so scare to fly) alot from ny to la (no cheap flights out nwk but got cheap flights of jfk) because of my 7 month son living out there. :o

Hi everyone,
Am I the only one from Singapore??? If you don't have the money or the miles, marry someone who does. That is what I did. Ha. Been Married almost 20 years and hubby is now elite on all the airlines, 1k etc... My job is now to maximise points and miles accrual. I get high just thinking about all those miles we collect. Don't let them tell you they don't treat you different when you fly on frequent flyer tickets, THEY DO!!! Still free is free. |
Blimey
This is a mine of information ! I "do" golf forums a lot (I have a part time business that keeps me sane as a clubmaker/fitter and am more than happy to answer questions on that) and in my "real" job I fly LHR-SFO a lot, well enough to be a 1K, and that's about it!
|
I'm am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult. Born in Sakatchewan Canada a long ime ago, I make a good part of my income writing about the auto industry. That particular industry is also the reason I wind up in so many planes and manage to qulify for a few upgrades. Not being on the A list means very few hops over water, but more than a few cross border trips on both AC and NWA, the two air lines that provide the best service to my city.
When not strring it up in print, I enjoy motorcycles, scuba and training Bandit (our latest dog). |
New to FlyerTalk, very old to flying.
Based in the Middle East (for now), fly back and forth to the US West Coast, almost always via LHR. Very bad at watching my Frequent Flyer programs...actually, more like a bit disorganized. I know I am throwing away tens and thousands of points/miles each trip. I fly business on long haul flights, but scour aggregate sites for the cheapest possible deals on continental US flights. Hi. |
I'm a English teenager living in Portugal since the age of eight. I do nor belong to a frequent flyer programme, although I am a relativley frequnent flyer (2008-6 flights).
Name: Daniel Favorite Airline:Transportes Aérios Portugueses Airlines which I have travelled on: TAP Lufthansa BMI Tangney Tours(religous charter company, I dont belive that they have their own aeroplanes, but I don't remember the actual carrier). |
Hello
I am new to the FT Forums. I wanted to say hi! I use AA and Hilton quite a bit for business and leisure travel.
