Wow.... almost 2 full weeks without a post!

Bringing this forward--- any suggestions for a location? It's DC's turn this time.

Since we are rotating around DC/VA/MD, we might want to rotate around the DC neighborhoods as well.

Columbia Heights? Hmm... that's one of those "neighborhoods in transition", eh?

Well, remember, Metro accessible....

Over the past year, I recall events in downtown, Farragut Sq., Adams Morgan, Waterfront, Union Station.... How about Eastern Market/Capitol Hill?

If you are shooting for Columbia Heights, why not Adams Morgan and their plethora of bars, ie. Havana Village. Smoke some cigars and drink mojitos and then the live band comes in and salsa dancing all night after 8pm.

However, best metro accessible bar for happy hour in my opinion is still McCormiles & Schmicks, I mean McCormick's & Schmicks. $1.95 cheeseburgers, mussels or oyster shooters and it is equidistant to both Farragut North/Farragut West.

But I am somewhat nostalgic and miss the days of supporting the aiport community of DCA by having our lunches and happy hours down at Legal Seafoods inside DCA.

Mmmmm.....McCormick and Schmicks (on K Street). Nice locale. Metro close for at three metro lines.

I guess the 3d Thursday this time will be January 16.

It's Wednesday the 22nd according to an earlier post. I play this strange Swedish sport on Thursday nights so I vote for sticking to this date.

But the location sounds good to me.

Well....

As those who went to Rock Bottom in Dec. can attest, we should make a reservation for the group to guarantee seating.

I just called McCormick and Schmick's restaurant (the one with specials) and they say that they only reserve seats for the dining room.... and the specials only apply in the bar with limited, unreserved seating.

Plus last time there was a request for a 7ish start since some people come in from MD/VA. The M+S specials end at 6:30.

That said......

How about the early-birds can congregate at M+S for the specials then migrate to the reserved seating, where they meet later-comers?

I've made a reservation under the name FlyerTalk in the restaurant part of the restaurant for 15 people at 6:30pm Wed. Jan. 22. How does that sound??

Details:

McCormick and Schmick Restaurant
1652 K St. NW
Washington, DC

(202) 861-2233

Wed. Jan. 22

6:30pm (but earlier gathering/specials in the bar)

Comments??

If you are a group of 6 or more, you can request a private booth seating. Walled in on 3 sides and separated by curtains give the feel of your own private dining room.
Also, non-happy hour prices for cheeseburger and fries is only $6-7.
