CitiGold is Citi's premium banking relationship. To remain a Citigold client, maintain a minimum combined average monthly balance of $200,000 in eligible linked deposit, retirement and investment accounts. There is no monthly service fee for accounts in The Citigold Account Package.

Be aware that Citi Wealth Management will not allow any trading of non traditional stocks and ETFs. No leveraged ETFs, no inverse ETFs. Its brokerage service is similar to Chase YouInvest. It is just basic investment service.

1. Click HERE to read a separate thread discussing expiration of ThankYou Points when closing a Citigold account.

2. Citi has introduced Citi Priority with a minimum combined balance of $50K as of November 6, 2016. Those who were no longer qualified under the new Citigold requirement has been downgraded to Citi Priority. Discussion HERE.

From what I've read here, you should. What I don't know is if it is required to link the Card account to your Bank account login or if you can keep the Card account login separate.

I've had an AA Platinum World MC for years. Each year the annual fee (<$100) is waived because I'm a Citigold customer.

In the materials announcing the changes to and benefits of Citigold effective Nov 1, 2016 -- i.e., $200,000 avg monthly balance in eligible, linked accounts -- there is no mention of the AA Platinum World MC fee waiver.

Does anyone know if the fee will continue to be waived?

Thanks for any feedback!
You will get Thank You Points -- although these are bank points, which are a) probably taxable and b) not transferable to partners. And you will get a reduction of $100 in your Prestige fee. You will have to evaluate whether the points you will earn and the $100 you save are worth forgoing the much higher interest you could get from (for example) Ally or American Express Savings. My guess is probably not. You will only earn 0.1% or so (plus the points and the $100, of course) from Citi, while you can get 1% elsewhere. The difference on $160k would be $1340 per year before taxes. I'm pretty sure you won't get nearly enough points to make up for that.

It will likely not be waived since it was a grandfathered benefit for CitiGold. Unless you maintain the CitiGold level you will lose that benefit. I'm in the same boat as you. When the annual fee hits - I'll be cancelling.

Man I started using my Citi account a bit more for the time being and I realized how ...... it really is. CitiGold with a mobile check deposit limit of $1000? The hell. My BoA CampusEdge account has a $10,000 deposit limit on checks.

Don't freak out quite yet. Sometimes when things get grandfathered in their system the new structures don't always catch up.

Just keep an eye on your statements to see if it hits.

I've decided to try and stay Citigold so moved some assets over to bump me up from CitiPriority to Citigold. It will cost me an $50 ACAT fee from the brokerage firm where they sit at currently. We'll try it out.

FWIW, the Citi concierge associated with the Prestige card really bailed us out in a jam a few weeks ago. We had just gotten caught in a storm with two dying cell phones, and two crying babies, and there were no hotels to be had. Called them up and they found us a hotel, not too far away, and under the circumstances it was a great use of that benefit, which I'd never harnessed before.

Yeah I said ta-ta to Citigold based on this an all manner of other hassles. In addition to the check deposit limit, you are limited to a $2,000 daily outgoing transfer limit. Really?? If I need to have a $50K minimum balance, do you really think I'd never have a need to move more than $2K at a time?

Beyond that, the website is a hot mess. For weeks I was completely unable to log in based on some bizarre security measure that - despite using my normal user name and password - kept making me input my ATM card number and checking account number.

As for the $100 discount on your Citi Prestige fee, take your $50K from Citigold and put it in a 1% bearing account to make $500 instead.

FWIW there is definitely no way around this. I kept getting a notice from my local branch about the relationship manager that was just waiting to meet with me to enhance my relationship. I finally responded to set up the meeting, and said that unless they could override the limit, I was out. After a discussion with the branch manager, and the branch manager on the phone with their help desk, it was made clear that this is hard coded with no possibility to be changed, ever, and I walked out. Haven't gotten spammed from the branch anymore though.

Does Citigold refund ATM fees at non-banks? (e.g. Casinos)

I ask because an HSBC banker told me that HSBC Premier only refunds ATM charges at other banks (i.e. it has to be another financial institution). I'm trying to compare the two benefits.

I downgraded my CG to Citibank checking shortly after getting the bonus earlier this year. For months, Citi would thank me for being a CG member whenever I called in for something. The past few weeks, maybe after I downgraded Premier to Preferred, they're not saying that anymore. What are you guys' experience with downgrading your CG, and how long before they stop seeing you as CG? My Prestige card AF is due in January, and I'll probably keep the card if the AF is $350; but not if it's $450.

I have done exactly like you, downgrading CG to whatever it is that is no fee as long as you have something like $1500 in the checking account ... and downgraded from Premier to Preferred.

I have always found the CG "recognition" long after the fact to be strange, and have never understood why they are doing it. I'm pretty sure I've been labeled (still) "Citigold" since the Premier to Preferred downgrade, this summer.

Saving the best for last. Since then, on both my wife's and my Prestige cards, we've gotten the AF at $350 (our Citi checking is a joint account).

Sad when the 1.6x on AA and Admirals Club entry goes away next summer -- the CG + Premier + Preferred has been one heck of a parlay!

Citigold does - CitiPriority (the new $50k level as of Nov 6) does not.

I keep $500-1000 in a Schwab Investor Checking account that I use for the occasional random ATM withdrawal. They rebate unlimited ATM fees and there are no fees (account maintenance, forex, etc.) associated with the account, so it's a great backup.
