Please record data points in a structured form in this wiki (in addition to posting to the thread):

Date of the offer [mm/dd/yyyy], the offer, how long you had the card and yearly spend)

__________________________________________________ _____________
Tips:

When you call, you MUST ask if there are any offers on your account. Don't ask for an AF waiver, ask if they can credit your account the $95 (or whatever your AF is) to your account. They cannot remove the AF, but they can credit an amount to offset it. If you cancel your card within 30 days of receiving retention bonus, then Chase may claw back that bonus Note that Chase has shortened the period in which you can close the card and get the fee refunded. It is 30 days for most (or all?) cards.

If you don't get a retention bonus, the card you are holding may have the option of a downgrade. Cards that are downgraded may be upgraded at a later date. For example a no-fee Sapphire product exists for downgrade which is not available to new applicants. Consolidated discussion of that topic is here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase...16-onward.html

If you have Ultimate Rewards points in the account you're calling about, try transferring them to another account before calling. For example, if you will ask for a retention on your Sapphire card, transfer the points to your Freedom card in advance.

The archived 2020 edition is here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...-archived.html

SW Premier Biz- opened 1/20, MSR plus a lil extra, hadn't spent on it since 6/20. No offer, transferred CL to CIU, cancelled.

IHG (old)- opened 1/16, rarely spend since MSR (only if staying in IHG). $25 retention credit, accepted (1st time getting this).

SW Priority- opened 1/20, MSR plus lil extra, a bit more recently. No offer, but bc I was able to lower CL to <$500 last Nov (no idea how this was possible, cool?) it's still not charging me AF. I shifted CL's around when I upgraded CSP in 11/20 and when I did that, they also refunded last year's AF too. Awesome. Keeping for now- haven't spent the $75 credit yet, waiting for next statement to close before trying. Annual bonus miles have not posted yet. Rep confirmed that it is still the priority and has not been changed to a different product.

That is amazing because the Select card is obsolete. I happily paid the $49 renewal last fall because of annual free night and 10% points rebate when using points to book a stay. I didn't get any use out of the card last year because of COVID, but card is no longer available. I also have the $99 IHG Premier card. Chase told me to pay the fee or cancel when I asked last spring.

Yes, but if the credit card's coverage is denied on a technicality, then you are personally responsible.

CSR ($25k annual spend): Ask for credit to offset $450 annual fee. No offers available to do that. Rep said we now have 40 days from when fee posted to close / downgrade account to receive full refund. She also said that after that, you can downgrade your card and receive a prorated refund of the annual fee (Citibank did that for me last year with their AA plat card).

I plan to transfer my Ultimate Rewards points to my CFU card and downgrade my CSR to a Flex card. Then, a year from now I'll apply for a Chase Sapphire Preferred card (i usually .

Question: I had the CSR card since the February after they created it (I remember it came out in the Fall), so I think that enough years have passed to be eligible for another Sapphire bonus as long as I don't have both cards at the same time, right?

The rep got some of her info wrong. You do have 40 days to downgrade for a full refund (and pro-rated after that), however you only have 30 days to cancel for a full refund.

There's no need to move your points onto your CFU. When you downgrade to Freedom Flex, the points will stay with the Flex.

Finally, to answer your question, it needs to be 48 months since you received your CSR signup bonus, so you're not there yet. Check your old pdf statements online to find out when the statement with your bonus posted.

Thank you!! I checked my old PDF statements, and I earned the CSR 100k signup bonus on my statement ending 3/21/2017. So if I downgrade my CSR to Chase Flex now, I could actually apply for a Chase Sapphire Preferred on or after 3/22/2021 and be eligible for the signup bonus?

If you downgrade then there is no welcome bonus for the Flex, right?

Chase Sapphire Preferred - Never called/emailed to ask for a retention offer but just saw $95 annual fee credited/reimbursed. Any DP on this? I understand CSR reimbursing $100 if you renew before April 2021; however, is CSP currently offering something like that automatically?

Seems to be some inconsistency happening.
Today I was told I have 41 days to cancel, but warned not to cut it too close.
My fee hit Feb 1st.
No offer of AF rebate.
She did suggest downgrades too, and then commented that people are starting to travel again.

I called today about my Chase Sapphire Reserve Card as the annual fee posted on Feb 1. No retention offer. I was told I have 41 days to cancel for a full refund of the annual fee, from the statement date of Feb 6. I was reminded of the $300 travel credit being good for groceries and gas thru June, the $60 Doordash credit, the $120 Peleton Credit, and the 50% bonus rewards for Pay Yourself Back.

I have already used the travel credit and Doordash credit and am using the Peleton App, so so far have gotten $385.98 in credits back and with the full Peleton credit will probably have over the $450 fees in credit. I also use the Pay Yourself Back sparingly as I like to keep about 40,000 points in my account.

If I cancel now will Chase claw back the credits I have l have already used?

I have about 40,000 points left in my account and could transfer to my Chase Freedom for the time being and could reapply for a new card since I think it has been over 4 years since I received the 100k sign-up bonus. Does anyone know when the final month was when Chase offered the 100k sign-up bonus as that is when I got the card?

Suggestions on what to do would be appreciated. Thinking of keeping the card for another year at the $450 annual fee, since the credits I get will cancel out the fee, then canceling when the fee gets raised to $550. The one bonus I do have with this card and no others is primary car rental insurance, but no car rentals planned at least till the fall. Also priority pass but with no international travel planned for the foreseeable future that is of no use.
