This thread is now archived. The 2020 version is here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase-ultimate-rewards/1997467-sapphire-reserve-higher-annual-fee-550-lyft-doordash-benefits.html
It was a continuation of THIS discussion.

Use this thread to discuss the Sapphire Reserve card offer. There are separate threads to discuss:

$300 Travel Credit
Priority Pass
Concierge Service
Travel Insurance
Global Entry/TSA PreCheck reimbursement.

This card is subject to Chase's 5/24 policy. For information on (and discussion of) the policy, see Applying for Chase Credit Cards, 2017 onward. You can override 5/24 by having an in-branch pre-approval (only! online prequalification does NOT override 5/24), or by already being Chase Private Client (as in you see the "Chase Private Client" text on the login screen of the Chase mobile app.)

As of August 2018, all Chase Sapphire cards are (with limited exceptions) subject to an additional restriction:
The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.
See Sapphire (CSR & CSP) 48 months between bonuses, August 2018 for details and ongoing discussion.

Landing page with bonus offer (50,000 UR after spending $4,000 in 90 days):

https://creditcards.chase.com/credit...04&IS2F=Y71UH0

Application page: https://applynow.chase.com/FlexAppWe...304&PROMO=DF01

100,000 UR points is worth $1,000 as statement credit, $1,500 when used for travel through the Chase portal, or potentially more if transferred to a partner.

Card features are here: https://www.chase.com/card-benefits/...reserve/travel. The card's Priority Pass includes unlimited guests. (verified in Post #2635 ; also verified by Chase)

The card is made of the same material as the CSP, and is being shipped UPS Next Day Air.

How to determine your account number, expiration date, and shipping date before receiving the card
(** Note that this no longer seems to work checking on 5/18 - the account number in the secure message header is XXXXXX'd out except for last 4 digits)
(** Also I do not see any recent comments 5/18 on timely shipping or shipping method)

1. Send a secure message (SM) from the account. A common SM would be to ask about the sign-up bonus and last day to complete the spend requirement (which appears to be approximately 3.5 months from the date of approval).
2. Check the Sent Messages folder, and the full account number will be listed in the header of the message that you just sent. The number starts with 414720.
3. The expiration date is five years from the month of approval. So, if you were approved on August 31, 2016, your expiration date will be August 2021.
4. CVV2 number is not available, so if a merchant requires it for payment, you must wait for the physical card.
5. According to many reports, the card is not activated until it is shipped, which happens to be via UPS Next Day Air Saver (if shipped on Friday, you will not receive the card until Monday or the next business day). To find out when it is shipped, go to My UPS and sign up for a free account. You'll be notified when a shipment is destined for your address.
6. Contrary to what the customer service rep may tell you about the delivery of the card—such as the card will take 1-2 weeks or that expedited shipping is not available—the card is actually expedited and shipped via express shipping, as mentioned in #5. There is no need to ask for expedited shipping.

Priority Pass Select
Click HERE to read the separate thread discussing this benefit.
As soon as the account shows up online:
1. Click on Go To Ultimate Rewards.
2. Scroll down to the very bottom left and click on "Card Benefits"
3. Activate Membership to request card.
4. Card will take 1-2 weeks and can't be expedited, but members have reported success in charging the lounge access to the card and requesting a refund from Customer Service.
5. PP cards will be issued for the account holder and any AU(s)
6. According to Chase, CSR's PP membership includes guest access.

Duplicate Card
1. If you receive the plastic card, wait for the metal card to arrive automatically.
2. If you receive the metal card, send SM or call to request plastic card (for use with overseas merchants that require a card imprint, because you hate metal cards, whatever).
3. DO NOT request a replacement card (especially under any pretense that the card was lost or misplaced).
4. Both cards will have the same number, expiration and CVV. Both cards will work.
5. It appears that all CSR cards are sent overnight once produced, including the plastic 'replacement' cards. No need to request expedited shipping.

How to get bonus points on the first statement
Act very quickly; you may have less than a week. It depends on the timing of your first statement and when you receive the card. 4K in spending has to clear (not pending) about a week before the statement cuts in order to get the bonus points on that statement. Under "account details" you can see your first payment due date. Your closing date is usually three calendar days after your due date. For instance, if your very first bill is due October 20 that statement would close on September 23, and spending would have to clear by approximately September 16 in order to get the bonus points.

You just use the card to pay on the payment screen, you can put in anyone as the payer, just need all pertinent info (all CC info, name, address), same way you would if you used your Amazon account to buy something, but used your spouses's credit card as payment.

You mean adding an AU mid-year? Anyone know for sure? You could send a SM and ask.

Anyone have experience with CSR's help to dispute a charge? I have a dispute with an online vendor, who won't refund the shipping portion of an order. Instead of fighting the vendor, can I just dispute this with CSR?

You sure can. but first you need to make sure what is the conditions of the shipping charge at the time of placing the order - is it not refundable for that part even the merchandise can be returned? What does it say?

Before file a dispute you need to make sure you are in the right. Else the merchant would contest the claim and it is then up to the bank to decide which side it would take.

A customer does not always win, especially with banks like Chase. You would have better luck with AMEX but with Chase? Suggest you read some threads on related threads in this forum first.

I added an AU several months ago and haven't see a fee yet. I assume it will just show up on the renewal statement at this point.

When you got to 4/24, you could have applied for CSR and MPE cards on the same day and be approved for both. It's a loophole at 4/24. I know that doesn't help you now, but keep it in mind if you ever get to 4/24 again.

Hmm that's interesting - I wasn't aware of this. I'm at 4/24 right now and just did a Chase Ink Preferred biz card last week and was approved.

Since that doesn't affect my 4/24 status, was planning on doing the CSR next. But sounds like I can do both CSR and MPE on the same day - is that the best plan?

It's a fine plan if those are the cards you want and are eligible for CSR given the new Sapphire rules. The only thing is you need to wait until >30 days from the Ink approval.

I've seen this mentioned on the various forums. Chase won't approve a card until you're 0/30 (days). So one card every thirty days.

It's 1 Chase card every 30 days for a business cards, 2/30 for personal. Since the intention is to apply for 2 personal cards on the same day, you need to wait the full 30 days for the business card approval to clear. If not, you'd be beyond 2/30 on the final application (1 biz + 2 personal = 3).

So this was 2 yrs ago but I had applied for 3 chase cards at once (UA, Hyatt, & Chase Ink+). All 3 went into pending of course. Called rep and rep said they could only approve 2 of the applications (that they only allow 2 applications/30days). So I told the rep to go ahead and approve UA and Hyatt, which the rep proceeded to approve.

1 week later. I received all 3 ccs in the mail. I had no expectation of getting the ink+ but i guess they approved it anyways! Yes, got the promos on all cards. That definitely made my day

Authorized user fees

How does the authorized user fee work? If the primary card holder adds me as an authorized user before his AF is due (says, 2 months). Will this fee cover a 12-month period or just 2 month period? I am curious of this because I want to get the Priority Pass Select membership through my son's CSR account ASAP. Thanks.

Chase - Reconsideration Rules?

I've had the Sapphire Preferred card for 4+ years now but was ineligible until recently to sign up for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card due to the 5/24 rule (last month my number of new accounts dropped to 4 in the last 24 months). So after ditching the Citi Prestige card last month due to their recent downgrade in benefits, I decided to apply online for the CSR over the weekend and got the "pending - we'll notify you by US mail within 30 days" response.

I called the Chase reconsideration line today and was informed of the new rule that Chase has that does not allow existing CSP customers to be approved for the CSR. Rep said I can close my CSR card and then call the recon line 24-48 hours later after the account closure is finalized and have them reprocess the CSR app. So I did a bit more research online and one blog post suggested converting the CSP to the Freedom card (which I don't have) to keep the points alive/be able to transfer them back to Ultimate Rewards later.

So I did that, even explained to the CSP rep what I was doing and why I was doing it, and she sounded like it was a common thing to do, etc. So voila... 6 hours later I log into my Chase account and see my CSP is indeed fully converted to the Freedom card. So I figure now that I'm officially not a CSP customer anymore, I call the recon line to have them reprocess the app, and she says NO, the decision was final and if I want the card I have to reapply.

So my questions are...
1) Is there a difference between downgrading the CSP vs closing it that would prevent me from having my app reprocessed? Or was one of the two reconsideration reps misinformed?
2) If that's the case, when can I reapply? Today, tomorrow, next week etc? and would this denial be a factor in any future application decisions? (i.e. don't wanna waste another inquiry if I'm just gonna get denied again)
3) If I can't get the CSR can I cancel the downgrade of the CSP to Freedom and have it converted back to a CSP or would I have to apply for that card all over again too?
4) If I do apply for the CSR again would I still be eligible for the bonus?
