Can speaking to 2nd application specialist yield approval?
Hi all,
With 800+ credit score, high income and excellent history with Chase I thought I could get one more card - the Southwest Premier personal. I called the recon line though and the application specialist dissed me for the "too many recent applications" reason. I received the Southwest Plus card in September and two other Chase cards earlier in the year. On the other hand I did pay annual fees on two Chase cards this year which I would have thought would help avoid the label of "churner."
Is it worth my time to call back tomorrow and speak to a different application specialist or is it final once a specialist makes a decision? I told the specialist tonight I wanted the Premier card because it has no foreign transaction fees and includes tier qualifying points. Any other angles to increase chances of approval?
Thank you!

After you successfully reallocate your CL to get the new card, you would need to think thru your own strategy on how to better manage your total credit lines. This is not a science but a learning process for each individual.

Be careful opening 4+ Chase cards in a year. There have been some prominent blacklistings for that sort of activity.
This advice is less relevant if your history with Chase extends back beyond the 4 cards you've applied for this year.

secure message center --24 month rule
I was approved for a RR/SW Plus CC but it was not a signature CC (it is a SW Airlines Visa Plus Platinum CC) so I sent a secure message to find out if I would receive the sign-up bonus of 50,000 pts when I met the spending requirement. When I didn't receive a reply to my message I called the Internet Service Center and was told I would receive the bonus pts. Later that same day I received the reply from the secure message center informing me that I would not receive the bonus pts because I had received the bonus points for this same CC (it was a signature card) about 22 months ago. My question is--once I meet the spending requirement for my new Plus cc will this new CC already have been flagged so I won't receive the bonus points or do I still have a chance?

Yes, there is a new 24 month requirement between apps in order to get a bonus;
Usually the SM is more likely to be right than the phone CSR;
But in the past, these were considered different cards, and you could get the bonus for each of them. I got one last Nov, and another one this Feb, and got the bonus on each one.
The answer may be that the Signature part has nothing to do with it. Plat and Sig refer to the level of credit that comes with the card. What matters here is that there are 2 different SW cards, the Plus and the Premier. These are considered different cards, but AFAIK either of them could be issued as a Plat or a Sig. Are you sure you didn't apply for the same type of SW card you got last time?
If you are not sure, call Chase and ask them if the card you had last time was a Plus or a Premier. If you applied for the same type of SW card you got last time, no, you will not get the bonus from this app. You need to wait at least 2 more months and reapply.
But AFAIK, if you applied for a different version from last time, you should qualify. In which case SM them again, point out that last time you had the (Plus or Premier) and this time you applied for the other one, and see if you get a different answer.

Thank you for your reply. It is the same Plus card and I already have the Premier card. You mentioned I could wait for 2 months and then reapply but to do this I would have to immediately cancel this card when I call to activate it and don't you think Chase might not like me doing so? Chase has been very good to me during the past 10 years and I don't want to do anything that may jeopardize our relationship.

Upon further review, I'd SM for any information you want. I just called Chase because my AF posted today for my CSP card. I knew I was approved in Nov 2012, but not when the bonus posted. The CSR hemmed and hawed for quite some time, giving me answers like "that would be sometime in the 3 months after you got your card". By asking over and over, she finally gave me the exact date the bonus posted. Maybe she had a hard time finding that date, but it seemed like she was reluctant to tell it to me. Now why might that be?

I'm in about the same boat as you. Approved for the personal SW card after recon and moving CL, but denied for the biz card. They grilled me about my business (which has no revenue and is in startup) and denied it based on lack of revenue and my total number of accounts. I have 7 total accounts across 4 companies and only 2 with Chase now that they approved the SW personal. This is only my 6th application in the last 12 months and my first rejection. I have also closed several accounts in the last few months so I would have thought it wouldn't be a problem. They refused to move CLs for it, too. Going to call back tomorrow but based on what I read, I'm not optimistic. I've only opened one business account (with Citi, which I closed yesterday) before but this turned me off from trying again.

I haven't applied for a Bus card, but from what I've read they are more difficult to get approved, and more YMMV than personal cards. Have a glass of wine, go for a run, meditate, whatever you do to handle stress. You'll get over this, and be approved for many more cards. Maybe not this one, but there are lots of cards in the Miles and Points sea.
Keep Calm and Churn On....

Also keep in mind the 24 months are from the statement date you RECEIVED bonus, NOT the date you were approved the card. So if you got your bonus on the 3rd statement, then the 24 months started from the 3rd statement date.
If you read the T&Cs as well as pay attention on the last time you got the same card, you would not make this mistake.

? for Happy
[QUOTE=Happy;23939333]You will NOT get the bonus on this new card. It is up to you to decide on what you want to do - keep it but no bonus or ditch it and wait LONGER than just that 2 months to reapply.

What is the most tactful way to ditch this card without jeopardizing my relationship with Chase?

Send them a secure message and pay your bills on time. Chase doesn't care if you close cards on them as long as you pay on time, use their product, etc. Closing a single cc is effectively a non-event.
