Just speculation, any other new routes to the EU will likely be from 2026 anyways, which is way too early now for route planning.

considering OS used to fly to VIE and it provides even more east europe access, if MUC performs well perhaps it would come back. maybe some bolder destinations like ATH, BUD or even BEG (lots of ties with mainland china) could work in the future as well if there are enough planes and demand.

though I think the markets that arent daily would go to daily before even more routes get added.

Cathay is pretty conservative. Im wondering whether routes can support the premium fares as demanded by Cathay

Will there be more new routes or frequency increase to North America?

If US/Canada - China capacity is still constrained by political issues, then yes definetely CX will see North America as first priority in terms of network planning. Newark, Seattle, or even Houston, Washington DC IAD, and Las Vegas will be on the waitlist.

Why LAS?

I think loads were pretty disastrous when they ran IAD. My flights were about 50% load in J. So selfishly wanting it to return, I am not sure how realistic that one is.

So that’s why I put IAD to the last of the list. I think Newark and Seattle are more feasible and they may come back in the foreseeable future.

I doubt they'll try Seattle until the current blood bath drains.

maybe just increase east coast frequencies and Canada frequencies? also awaiting Cathay to add more frequencies to Australia.

It's unclear where else in North America they might go other than Seattle with the prohibitive bloodbath. DC had bad loads pre Covid and political issues might make it worse now. Maybe another AA hub. There was long speculation in MIA over Swire's investments there...

CX has an effective partnership with AA and AS into LAS, feeding from LAX and SFO

TMK, neither Canada nor the US have the ability to stop CX from flying over Russia using current diplomatic tools, but CX would be foolish to over poke that bear.

For Canada, CX can further increase frequency in Vancouver which will not overfly Russia and even if it increases frequency in Toronto, its just AC that could potentially raise any issue and given the relationship between AC and CX, there's no way AC will do anything about it.

For the US, if CX is just increasing frequencies to JFK and Boston and CX is not dumping fares like what mainland China airlines did to Europe, I don't think that will raise much concern.

If CX were to attempt to relaunch Newark, you'd get an opportunity to watch lobbiests of many flavors (e.g. noise, jobs, solar radiation) in action and landing slots would be surprisingly difficult to come by.

My take on it including competition from UA and connection to SE Asia

you should be correct on that speaking of United Airlines the competitor on that route they are trying to restart it in 2025 UA179/180.
Pre Covid-19 EWR-HKG flight CX899 leave 1:55am EWR Terminal B arrival in HKG 5:30am 25 minutes after the DFW HKG flight CX897 5:05am arrival in HKG 1 hr earlier than CX843 6:30am formerly CX845 JFK-HKG late night. Yet you are still able to make it to a Southeast Asia connecting like the 7:30am CX907 HKG-MNL where you arrive 2 hours after the departure in Hong Kong at 9:30 a.m. in T3.
