I want to ask for an opinion - should we continue to include Fubon in beginner's list? It doesn't cover the bills BEA Flyer World doesn't anymore...it's only really good for overseas earn.

What is the cap for the HKD 3 / mile overseas spending?
Thank you.

Ahh well, there goes another one. With Shacom already gone, and Fubon now excluding them from the 2X bonus points, the options for reaping a decent number of miles from online bill payments are shrinking fast. Wonder how long it'll be before BEA (having already excluded education and insurance) stop bonus points for all bill payments?

Agree with percysmith that Fubon hardly warrants its place in the beginner's list anymore.

But one question on section VI on bill payments in the updated wiki. Shouldn't the two new entries on paying bills via CCB cards say "For Education and Insurance" rather than "For Insurance only"? Or am I missing something? (It's a matter of some concern to me, as I've got 50K in education bills to pay every year)

I think Hsbc-->CCB was included because education and insurance under 12 times credit limit was originally better with Fubon, it's not now.

I agree that the Fubon card should be taken out of the beginner cards. I think the basic set up of BEA + HSBC is really sufficient for 90% of purchases for beginners.

Also, I didn't see this in the thread but I saw that HSBC had a red hot dining offer ($6k spend, requires transactions of $500 or more, 360 bonus RC) for local HK restaurants. Jan 2 to Feb 28. If anyone is doing a CNY banquet, might as well get some extra RC for it, right?

Edit: here's the link to it - https://www.redhotoffers.hsbc.com.hk...diningrewards/

I mentioned it HSBC 360 extra RC for $6,000 dining ($1.04/mile) 2 Jan-28-Feb

But I'm reluctant to mention these time and/or spend-limited offers in the Wiki now...too much to update and too much clutter esp for less-experienced readers to understand.

Ah, of course. Sorry, percy - I just searched for 'red hot dining' and didn't see any posts, so tossed it in there.

I don't think these time-limited offers should be in the wiki - just the thread is fine, IMO.

If you don't use it for anything else, 75% of your latest approved credit limit.

Seems i have misread the T&C when I edit the section earlier this month.
I thought the cap applies to insurance company payment only, thus i noted the cap is for insurance only. However, it appears that it is for all bill payment. I have updated accordingly.
Apologies for the mistake.

My mistake too I read it exactly the same way as LchChester (12 times CL cap applies only to insurance).

I don't have high education or premium payments, but if I do I need to keep my CCB limits high not to facilitate payments but to ensure I earn points on these.

Utilities, rates, government rent can all go into BEA.
Telecoms (anything that has a Direct Debit Authority, online payment portal or counter payment) into Citi Rewards.

Now with Fubon 2x weekend (HK$6/mile) insurance bill payment discontinuing after 28 Feb and BEA FlyerWorld (HK$5/mile) excluding insurance what is the best card for paying insurance premium? CCB-HSBC combo? (but doesn't CCB give no points for paying insurance bills?)

Yes

CCB CUP does for bill payments:

http://www.asia.ccb.com/hongkong/per...tml#asia_miles

BONUS POINT CAP ON DESIGNATED TRANSACTIONS - The total Bonus Points earned per Cardmembership Year will be capped at 12 times of the latest approved credit limit (not applicable to temporary increase in credit limit) for transaction(s) of online bill payment(s) and payment(s) to insurance companies. "Cardmembership Year" refers to the 12-month period from the date a Card account is opened to the end of the corresponding calendar month of the following year, and thereafter, each calendar year.

Did the online doc upload for DBS Black MC today - how long is their application processing time? Will use them as $6/pt for general spend.

Now need to get a bill payment card - BEA World Flyer looks the best bet at $5/pt - but I don't quite understand how to apply for this card? Can someone please clarify.
