When I looked, the T&Cs said "up to the 13th Dec and 25th Dec to whenever".

Flights seem to go up by £150-£200 in Y on the 14th over the 13th so ither no sale there, fare availability or premium period.

I think you've answered your own question.

Looks cheaper out of AMS.

AMS-LHR-JFK-LHR-AMS is coming in at around £487 in Y.
AMS-LHR-JFK-LHR is coming in at around £553 in Y.
LHR-JFK-LHR is coming in at £688.95 in Y.

I wonder which one I would go for?
Not sure if ex-AMS is a sale fare or just better without APD etc as I've seen them higher than from LHR throughout the year.

LHR-NYC-LHR sale fare is currently 444 GBP.

+1. Pretty much all the ex-UK fares are lower in both WT and WT+ and even some CW but it is just that the APD makes them ultimately more expensive.

More expensive in relation to what?

LHR > East Coast and back for £444 or whatever in WT seems cheap. How much is a train ticket from LON > EDI? No, please don't tell me. But being able to fly to the USA (and come back) for c. £450 seems a reasonable deal. And indeed something like £800 in WT+. I have paid more than that in the last 3 years on several occasions.

APD, YQ, US CBP, Breathing Oxygen taxes or whatever … it costs what it costs. If £444 for a TATL sounds to expensive, don't go there.

orbitmc said more expensive not to(o) expensive and is correct. The APD does make ex UK fares more expensive.

London to Washington April 2014

Looking for tickets in world traveller plus (premium economy) for April 2014.
Two questions if anyone can kindly advise / help
1. I presume there will be another sale closer to the time for April 2014 on BA for this cabin?
2. Might it be cheaper to fly out of AMS or another city instead then London?
Thank you!

Sadly, no-one has that crystal ball. At least, no-one who posts on here anyway. There might be another sale, it might be for world traveller plus, it might cover the dates you want and it might cover the route you want. But then again, it might not happen the way you need it to.

It's often less money to fly from somewhere in Europe than London although you have to build in the cost of the positioning flights and possible overnight accommodation. I would certainly consider it but a lot of people wouldn't.

December tends to see a WTP sale. No guarantees, though.

As others have said, late December tends to be the main sale (around the 22nd), see this thread for historical details

Probably unlikely to save much vs a sale fare from AMS or others. Plus if you get to use the lounge at T5, then that tends to be worth a bit extra IMO. Plus there's the potential opportunity to purchase a cheap upgrade to Club (often offered online in 'manage my booking' shortly before the flight if there's availability).

As BA are having a sale now in July is it unlikely that they will have one in August as they have done before?

Not in my estimate. I think the late August one will be there. Over time, BA have multipled sales making them essentially often less good (or for CW/F as good but more restricted) but more frequent.

Over the last 3 years my WT+ bookings for TATL (always in a sale) have been made in either August or December (apart from an odd one made in April). That's 9 data points in total.

However, past performance is no guarantee … etc etc.

I'm going to tell you - for a non-flexible no-changes ticket on a par with the £444 WT fare, about £60 return. Limited availability, sure, but then the same is true of that £444 fare.
