I was responding to Mr. PGberkshire, who said that BA First "highlights really well" these fantastic British Cheeses.

I also indicated that I don't personally know squat about British cheeses.

Every country - with the exception of the United States (home of Velveeta and anything bland, smell-less and tasteless) - has good cheese. You are quite right Britain does have some excellent cheese. In France one is spoilt for choice. People in France tend to eat cheese at home rather than in a restaurant unless it is on a Prix Fixe menu.

Sadly any chance of BA serving decently cooked food in general and cheese in particular is all the Health and Hygiene nonsense which goes way too far. Meat has to be cooked to death and cheese is not ripe. I hate referring back to BCAL but we bought all our cheese at Paxton and Whitfield. The Stilton was so good, that I always hoped that there would be some left over which went home with me. There - I have confessed to grand larceny!

There is one cheese that I cannot eat and that is Roquefort as it is too salty for my taste. Nevertheless, I mourn the loss of cheese on the Band 3 service

Whilst we are at it Boys, which Band is BUD? I've not flown it in years.

I think there are some small farmers in the US who make some decent cheeses but you would seldom see them outside of their local areas and I have never eaten any of them. There are some dairy areas within about 100 miles of where I live however those are located in, shall we say, unsophisticated areas, so I never see any of this. In some big US cities there are large food stores and cheese stores that may carry decent US cheeses, but I never go to those places (other than to the airport to get on a BA flight) so I have no experience with them. It is true that American taste in cheese is rock bottom, but I think that if you are willing to pay a high price, you can probably find some decent cheeses made in the USA.

I’ve had plenty of excellent cheese in the US, though I’m mainly in NYC, LAX or SFO.

The poached egg is a lottery as many crews will overcook it. Looks like I was on the same flight as KARFA this morning. I chose the poached egg but the yolk had the consistency of a hard-boiled egg. Oh well, I should have gone for the continental cold platter instead.

Chicken was cooked properly- Juicy and not dry at all. The quinoa salad and tiramisu were tasteless and cheese meh. Gin was Tanqueray for the first time in I can’t remember and crew were good. OT side note the MID planes really need new seats!

BA252 LHR-PRG 10.15am departure

Took significant other Montague to Prague for a few days. Pleasantly surprised by the food offerings, was expecting a small salad. Even managed to rope her in to taking a photo! The missing meal was a “vegetable curry”
