I don’t know if this has been flagged anywhere else, but BA have now changed their flexibility policy for BA Holidays.
You must now claim a voucher or make changes at at least 28 days before departure. It was previously 21 days.
I just think it’s so wrong that when the COVID situation is still in a bad way, they are making you commit earlier on - all while flights can be changed up to check-in closing.

Could someone confirm how late before departure you can cancel (an Avios booking) for an FTV under the BWC policy? I have a feeling it was something like “when check in closes” or “an hour before scheduled departure”, but can’t remember where I read it and I don’t see it in the wiki…

That's correct, but general advice is not to leave it quite so late. On one occasion, that advice was worthwhile because my first attempt to FTV an Avios booking was (wrongly) rejected and I had to submit it again.

Thanks. I don’t intend to leave it that close, but it might be down to 3-4 hours, due to some last minute uncertainty. Hopefully that will be ok…

It should be the same deadline, if all you want is an FTV (or an eVoucher, as you may get from a cash booking).

Sorry should have explained better. What is the time I have to cancel by by requesting a voucher. Eg X hrs before take off, or x hours before check in for example. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I thought you were asking a follow-on question to squawk's - hence the same deadline, whether it's for an Avios booking or a cash booking - as KARFA has kindly confirmed. I think that the same warning applies, though: don't leave it until the last minute unless that's unavoidable.

Silly question - with the new restrictions I need to cancel two bookings made with Avios - when I try to do this online, I get taken to the voucher page. Will filling this out result in my Avios being returned or do I need to call?
Thank you!
Thank you!

If you want a refund of the Avios, you need to call. But if you fill out the online form and you are issued with an FTV, that's an IOU from BA in much the same way that Avios in your account are an IOU from BA. And you can always ask for a refund of the FTV later, which is the time at which you would pay the cancellation fee. So much really actually depends on how badly you need the cash back right now.

Thanks Globaliser ! I don't need the avios or cash badly right now, so I will just put in for the voucher rather than spend the time on hold.
One question - if I then use the voucher for a booking in the future, do I earn avios with it? So turning a non-earning avios trip into an avios earning trip?
