Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.
This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.
Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833
-------------------------
Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Hmm, I asked on one or two flights a couple of years ago, but was told they didn't have any, so never bothered asking again. Maybe they'd just run out on those flights.
Is there a full CE bar menu anywhere? I feel I should read it!

My lactose free meal was nice but for a flight with such a short flight time there was rather too much.
The flight had 8 rows of CE with one member of staff doing food and drinks. The plane was starting to point down by the time I got my meal. Ate the main and the side salad/fruit plate combo but didn't manage to get to the jelly desert as the crew wanted my tray. Other passengers weren't happy that they couldn't finish their meals. The vegetable sushi for the main had quite a lot of wasabi on it so it might not suit people who are adverse to spicy food.
Overall felt very rushed given the amount of time to eat, meal should have come with a Rennie!

Doubtless there is one upthread but I couldn't immediately find it. Here is the current LHR CE bar menu, which appears on the Long flights but is available on all CE services. I think the exception is that they are still waiting for champagne on domestic LCY services, some sort of licencing issue. And on shorter services the wine is in mini bottles, other services from a full bottle served by the SCCM.

Hmmm, well that makes no mention of Baileys - is there anything else they stock that's not listed? Port, perhaps?

I ate only half as I was concerned of the effects it would have on my blood glucose levels. And sure enough my glucose levels jumped up shortly afterwards.
As this same meal was served as Vegetarian, Lactose Free, I'm not convinced that this was the correct meal.
Does anyone know what the Diabetic special meals should be?

Reporting back after my LCY-EDI flight yesterday. Sadly no record of my special meal. Cabin crew mentioned this seemed to be happening a lot recently on CE domestics.
3,000 Avios duly given and I made do with the apple crumble.

CE HEL-LHR food generally good but the whole dinner service weird. What we thought would be a drinks and nuts before the meal turned out to be drinks for your meal. My hubby not happy at all with starter with GT. Dinner was very rushed and over within 40 min after departure on this 2h50min flight. Shouldn't there still be a seperate drink service before the actual meal?

In your instance, it doesn't sound like your flight was overly busy, but I guess the CSM made the call on the day. There could be a multitude of reasons as to why a separate bar was not delivered, but I am struggling to see why on your particular flight. Was Club busy?
Kind regards

First pass was the tray with starter (salmon) and dessert, quickly followed by the drinks trolley. Main course (chicken) followed and then more drinks. Even on a 4hr flight it all appeared quite frenetic.
Overall good flight and service, with only some soft crackers letting it down.

Since new service routines were introduced, on some of the HEL and LIS sectors for example, I have found that there is insufficient time to offer a separate bar round before dinner, where passenger numbers are high. Offering a separate bar round with Club loads of anything more than around 30, is extremely challenging. It doesn't help that on some flights, there are only two crew available to work in Club Europe. On a recent HEL flight, we had 30 customers in Club, only two of us, and as was commented on this very forum from one of our customers, we didn't stop for the whole flight. I gauge that we think the catering is great for our customers but that a full service isn't always achieveable on the day.

Little OT, but regarding HEL-LHR flights with Finnair and BA, I used to think Finnair was the better option, but with recent cutbacks in Finnair service and BA new catering, BA now has the egde. Hopefully, BA gets some routine with the new service concept.
