Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

The chicken with pasta was quite good. The chicken was moist and tasty and the pasta copious (although a touch tough at the edges of the plate where it had been seared in the oven).
Chicken with lobster sauce? Sounds a pretty novel flavour combination to me but glad you liked it.

The mention of prawns above reminds me that I've not seen many updates on the LCY meals. This was the meal on the evening BA8458 AMS to LCY on 17/01/2018.

I had this dish on the ARN-LHR route recently too, and had the same thoughts : unusual flavour combo that didn't quite work but was still nice; the pasta was a bit too thick and baked dry at the edges; and the whole dish featured BA's unique 'patches of burnt sauce around the edges and down the outside' presentation.

The king prawn starter was lovely.

I am surprised none of you have eaten this sort of combination before. Sauce Crustacée is not uncommon in Brittany and the smarter places on the Cote d'Azur where you wealthy Business people spend weekends

Now - Would Corporate-Wage-Slave please make himself known to a crew member by pressing the call button above your head?

In every single picture of people's meal trays I am still seeing President butter. Am I hallucinating or did you not tell Auntie Pucci that this was to be a thing of the past? Aplogoies if you were trying to doze.

Why any part of the service should be ditched on IST - LHR is beyond me. They have 4 crew on the A320 and 4 hours or so for the meal service. This needs further investigation.I've seen that whole Monty done on the ALC which are 2 hours.

It's beyond me, too - although less experienced crews do seem to struggle with two crewmembers in Club. Seems to have been negotiated as a dispensation when the changes were first introduced, perhaps it will vanish in due course. Have had excellent service so far this year ^

Hi Pucci,

On my recent post #1872 you will see Lurpak. I also recently had Anchor out of NCE to LHR!!!

I suspect they are just placing on the tray what is cheapest at that point.

Cheers
Steve

Low calorie breakfast on the LHR-LUX flight this morning. Quite tasty to be honest. It would be nice if they added the calorie values on these so that we can track them if on a diet.

Are there new CE menus out in February?

On my lunchtime MAN-LHR flight today we had a very nice prawn dish that I’ve not seen before. I presume it was a prawn ceviche, certainly a dish that I’ve not seen before. It appeared to be 6, yes 6 prawns! ... but once I started to eat it it became apparent that it was in fact 3 fat, juicy, tasty prawns sliced in half.

This may be a new ‘express’ service which was absolutely perfect for that short hop, if this dish appears as ‘lunch’ on a medium band flight (NCE etc) then get your complaints ready!

Maybe i am the only one on this wave length, but maybe a new thread title or new thread entirely would be an idea seeing we are now well into 2018 !
