Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.
This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start.The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.
Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

LCY's catering has moved in line with LHR and LGW on some aspects (so pre-plated rather than tipped, and things like the crockery) but the menu banding structure is different and better, so you may get a hot evening meal on LCY-EDI for example. I am still trying to work their rotations out, but it is as if there is only one banding out of LCY. What is different is that LCY still has complementary catering in ET.

FRA-LHR Choice of cold chicken slices with prawn or beef sandwich. Both choices have been referred to as "very small" in advance. Took the beef sandwich. Taste was actually okay - it came along with a potato salad (if you consider two pieces of potato a salad) and panna cotta desert, which was quite good.
Not complaining, was suitable for the short flight.

This was from a recent EDI-LCY service departing 7pm.
I was quite impressed, but should really have had the salmon as the steak was like shoe leather!

Has anyone had the dessert that is an orange and red liquid with something resembling cream on top? I couldn't make out what it was meant to be, and I certainly didn't enjoy it!

I saw that they also use the same trolley for CE and Y. It's likely that they can likely have Jack too, while BACF remains non-BOB in Y.

Was booked on Milan to LHR. Due to weather flights were a mess, so we had to book a new flight (Avios) for earlier one.
Of course being on the day, no way to book Veggie meal. However at booking it clearly states food etc being part of CE.
Fast forward to flight and of course 2 meat options. Indeed not even enough food for all people on board due to other flights being cancelled. A packet of nuts it was. Crew were great, and cursing BA management
Thought I would drop BA a line to see what they said. I made point that working in catering, we always carry some veggie meals, as not everyone remembers to order or indeed may want beef or ham, so for the small cost it carries we keep some veggie options. Well reply was rather short as expected. Guess not much else you can do, but I dont see why they cant at least carry some veggie options. Guess it costs too much money

I appreciate your comments, but I must reiterate that there is no standard compensation or refund due in circumstances where a customer is unable to attain a special meal. Because you booked your flight on the same day you travelled, there was not enough time to request a vegetarian meal from our suppliers. The timescales for requesting special meals are outlined on ba.com, as outlined in my previous response.
As an airline, we are legally required to ensure that our passengers arrive at the destination they've booked. The service provided on board is part of the proposition we offer to our customers, but there is no legal requirement for meals to be served on board our short haul flights.
We do usually ensure that we have extra vegetarian options on board, however, this cannot be guaranteed, given the amount of space needed for meal provision on board.
As outlined in my previous response, your comments have been fed back to the Customer Experience team and the Catering team. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any compensation or gesture of goodwill for this issue.
