Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

I tried the Kosher (first time ever for me) on MXP-LHR at lunch time, last week.
The main was good. Bread tasted "old" and the chocolate mousse was a bit on the heavy side. I would order it again on a 2hr "short/medium band" flight.

Standard meal on the flight was the ciabatta (didn't see what was inside). My seatmate had some sort of sushi instead.

Regards the afternoon tea.

I thought the sandwiches were fine although I'm not so keen on the cheese and pickle and left half of that.

The small slice of victoria sponge like thing on my plate I tried and found sickly sweet.

Much rather have the scone and play around with the jam and cream.
.
Let's hope its rumoured return is imminent!

Um, can you perhaps explain what the main dish is?

The sandwiches are ok; though they were really dry and bland. The sponge cake was tasty, not too sweet IMO.

I also hope the scones return, but what I find more disturbing is the huge difference in catering offerings, especially taking into account the BA Cityflyer offering on the route (same length)!

I didn't describe in first place because I was unsure how to "define" it... the red meat was salmon, the balls tasted like fish too... but no idea about preparation or ingredients. First time I eat something like this, I think.

Just done my first domestic in CE.

Choice of cold meats and cheese or the panini. Everyone went for the platter and it was more than sufficient for a brunch service. Plenty of champagne tea and coffee was offered throughout and the cabin, primarily American tourists, were all very grateful with many commenting on what a wonderful service it was.

BCN - LGW this evening. Whole (I think) chicken breast on a bed of salad, with some sort of bulgar-wheat thingy on the side and a sachet of dressing. Looks a lot more substantial than the chicken / prawn or duck salads I've seen on here recently? The other option was croque monsieur. Served with bread, a dessert pot but no cheese and biscuits. Also, no tonic water left in CE!

Aberdeen to London, 4.35pm flight

I had a great flight. First we had a drinks run which I don't think is the norm (there were 8 of us in CE, then the meal, then a coffee run).

Drinks and nuts

Ploughman's lunch - very acceptable for this time of flight

Coffee, whisky and shortbread to finish

I am by no means a BA apologist but 10/10 for today BA!

LHR-BHD VLML dinner:

While this looks amazing, the taste left a lot to be desired - the rice was very stodgy and the whole dish was completely lacking in flavour. As reported upthread each time this dish appears, no soy sauce had been loaded - the lovely CSM very kindly offered me some of hers, but thanks to FT, I had come prepared!!

BHD-LHR VLML dinner:

Ah, my old favourite - 3/4 of a tomato...! At least this time it came with some (more) cheese and a pudding, making it a bit more substantial.

Incidentally,stu1985 mentioned a few post back that there was a drinks run with nuts on his LHR-ABZ flight: this was also the case on my LHR-BHD, but not on the return. Hot rags were not offered on the outbound, but were on the inbound. Drinks and meal service were from trolleys on the outbound, but on trays from the galley on the return. Very erratic!
