Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Do you seriously think that BA are going to be spending more on this 'hot sandwich' than the current hot meals? I think we can be fairly sure that BA will be saving the pennies once again. I imagine that they'll even be saving on the champagne, as smaller bottles work out more expensive anyway. But if you're hoping for an improvement, then good luck!

Giving the ode to bmi (toastie....2 class domestic cabin) perhaps they should issue a press release referring to the 'pleasing rounded shape' of the new crockery.

I hope the new crockery will address the one mouthful mug on the CE tray. Pouring a "hot" beverage into a mug with a large surface area and shallow depth is a sure way of ensuring the BA super-brew is always served lukewarm.

As critical as I was about BoB I really thought BA had a strategy, that they wanted to accentuate the difference between Euro Traveller and Club Europe. But now it seems obvious that they don't have a clue. I can buy a hot roll in economy and it's possible that the 'CE sarnie' won't be much better.

Anyway, I'll pop back in a week to read the complaints!

Precisely.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, we'll find out, tomorrow...

It's amazing that I hold high hopes. My generally optimistic beliefs rearing their head once again. It can't be less than what it is anyway!

Indeed !

I'm wondering whether you had a hand in the press release (which I recently received by email along with many other BAEC members) about the new First Wing at T5 ....?

If not, then I'd say a role awaits within the mighty BA spin machine ^

Do&Co have been supplying the CE catering since DHL took over the logistics, so a lot longer than 2 years.
They recently started to provide the New York catering and they provide the gourmet meals that you can oay extra for in WT. They also provided some midhaul catering but I am not sure if they still do.

Quite simply if that's true and medium retains the full lunch/dinner, that will take care of my objection and will mean there are only winners or unaffected pax which would make it an overall improvement. However I was basing my thoughts on Petrus's and Littlegirl's summary which suggested otherwise and are usually very well informed.

An internal document I saw suggests the Twitter team are mistaken.

The BA press office has also not been rushing to correct the details I published on Head for Points this morning, which they normally do when there is a mistake (and which I am always happy to correct).

Most importantly, I wonder how many full size bottles of champagne will be loaded per flight, and how quickly it will run out on busy flights...

Have a flight from MAD in CE this coming Tuesday evening, few weeks ago on a similarly timed flight from MRS(arguably shorter) there was a hot meal(not a hot sandwich and it was surprisingly decent) If I read this correctly, am I only going to have a choice of a salad and a hot sandwich? Quite ridiculous and if that is the case I hope the IB lounge in MAD is well stock with hot options. Oh and btw on the outbound on IB, there was a hot meal.

When you had a mini-bottle of shampoo you could fill that diddy glass 2 to 3 times.

Whe they serve you your diddy glass from a big bottle you'll have to wait for them to come back with a refill.

So you may actually get less this way.

As one from the other side of the world, I am looking forward to flying BA this summer. I will be in Oxford for a month of studies and have 3 weekend trips planned LHR - FCO in CE and LHR - CDG in E. Will be interesting to compare the
service and product with my travels before on DL and AS.

Flying the 767 BA552 to FCO so I will get to test out the breakfast and the dinner on the return.

Looking forward to July.

Delivering a blow by blow account of the new CE menu, I'm currently in the Gatwick lounge, drinking a coffee, and will be heading to the gate in about 30 mins

Hmm...... good spot. You could well be right, don't think I've seen this mentioned before.

All credit to Professor Cruz (Head of Enhancements). Where his specialist field is concerned, he's generally one step ahead of anyone else

...and there was always the risk that someone would ask for a mini-bottle and take it with them
