According to a contact in BA Engineering, for safety, to keep the airframe stable in case of high winds as the repair was done outdoors, and the balance of aircraft had changed with heavy items like an engine being removed during the repair.

I don't mean to bring this post back to the top with being so old but I was on a 777 back from Orlando to Gatwick yesterday and was waiting to use the toilet and noticed above the crew phone at the jump seat was a sticker that says G-VIIO above it and I then thought to myself I know that number from somewhere and then it hit me lol!
I know obviously there has been extensive repair and recertification done to get the plane back in service but there was a part of me that was slightly unnerved when I realized I was on a plane which not only have been evacuated but was involved in a fire and a proper one at that lol. The flight went fine and I think I was the only one who noticed. I obviously never mentioned that I made the connection lol!
I suppose its similar to when you are in a crash in your car and it comes back fixed, even though you know its fixed you still think to yourself that something is not quite right lol.
The cabin honestly did look in sorry state though, Plastics broken on armrests, Overhead lockers taped up lol. Almost like battle scars you would think a plane off for so long that they would at least re fit it.
